Default Our new breastfeeding group

I've just come home from our new breastfeeding group that the midwives and
health visitors in my area are trying to set up. It was the first day
today, the idea is for everybody to get together in a new cafe that is very
pro BF and non-smoking ))

It was really hard work to go - I'm on night shifts at the moment and the
group was 2pm to 3.30pm but I dragged myself out of bed to make it for 3pm -
thought I would show willing and meet some other BFing Mums. When I got
there there was just the midwife and 1 other Mum. Nobody else had turned up
..... and only one more Mum turned up before 3.30pm. Both of them had babies
that were just 6 weeks old. Margaret (midwife) said she was so relieved
that I'd turned up so that the mums could be encouraged to feed on past
those first hard weeks. I wonder where the Mums are that are supposed to
keep me encouraged to keep feeding past 6 months .... a year .... (the
non-cyberspace mums I mean - as I can hear you all shouting "Here!!")

Needless to say I told them all about this NG and that if I hadn't had your
help I probably wouldn't have made it past the first month, let alone to 5
months.

Here's hoping a few more join next week and log on to the NG

At our local BF cafe (which is quite new) they aim to have 1 HV and 2
mum2mum breastfeeding support workers (mum's who BF and now offer peer
support to other mothers). I'm going to the cafe tomorrow as a mum2mum BF
support person - it's the first time I've been.
