Picnic in park was fine, very hot (29C, hot for here this time of year)
and sunny. New t-shirt saying "I'm one year old". Boxer cake worked
ok, but uploading to website not. will try to get some pics.

But....drumroll........
He took his **first unassisted steps** at the park (staggers, falling
for distance, whatever....I wasn't holding his hand and he managed
several more steps....) Got it on video, i think.

Brought home filthy, tired, sweaty boy, with new clothes, books and
toys...not too much, but enough to renew his selection of all, and some
of the other things will be "rotated out of service"

He just NOW went to sleep....think the balloons (shiny mylar ones) and
the cake et al have finally worn off or been taken over by desparate
sleep...I thot he'd be asleep right after bath at 8:30pm, it's now 10:45!!!

Dawn, extended nursing AND nursing a toddler today. ;-)

Hooray!

Now go baby-proof.

I just got an email from a friend that made me misty....
I had said "he took his first steps alone today"
and friend said "if you were there, that's not alone"

And actually it was the Birthday Grandad that got it on video! (they
share a birthday, my DS and his DGD!)

No big hurry to baby proof just yet since a) I have a boxer dog so the
house is dog proof, which is pretty close to the same thing, and b) DS
is really not walking alone....yet.

He DID get really close to crawling today as well, he's been on the
verge of both for a while.

Dawn
