I like Katrina best, myself. Haley and Riley both strike me as too trendy

So, if *I* were picking from that list, it would be Katrina.

Agreed all the way. I don't dislike any of those names, but Katrina is my fave.

I don't think I've ever been agreed with in my life so much as I have been
in this thread g!

Ok.. My DH is gonna be deploying this week so he definitly won't be her when
this DD arrives. All the sudden I'm terrified I won't be able to fill out
the birth certificate paperwork because we haven't agreed on a name yet.

Here's our short list. I've won the middle name battle, it doesn't look
like I'm going to win the first name battle, so while none of these names
are my favorite, they're what we agree on so far.

Haley
Riley
Brianna (yay, no U, Sophie!)
Katrina

Any opinions?

Denise

Sorry, I've been out of town so I'm getting in on this thread a bit
late. Of the ones you mentioned, I prefer Katrina for the reasons
everyone else mentioned - Haley and Riley are too common, Brianna
doesn't go with Anderson (actually, Brianna Anderson reminds me too
much of Roseanna Roseannadana from Saturday Night Live LOL).

If your DH likes Brianna so much but you're not sure, what about
Briony (I've also seen it spelled Bryony)? I've heard it pronounced a
couple of ways - "BRIAN-ee" or "BREE-oh-nee".

Well it would be Bri-ahnna, not a long A sound, so I wouldn't worry too much
about the Anderson. Plus our last name is hyphenated. We actually have
close family friends with A Briohni, nicknamed Noni, so that's not an
option. I don't know what we're going to choose. Katrina's been taken off
the list because its too close to the Katie we already have plus my
husband's indecisive Last night I had a dream Shari Lewis was chasing me
singing, "this is the baby without a name.." It was horrible.

I've never seen or heard of Briony before, but I would pronounce it
bree-OH-nee unless told otherwise!

Bryony is the more typical spelling and it's actually a botanical name
(bryony is a type of flowering vine, rather like holly, I think). I have
always heard it pronounced with a long "i" in the first syllable and short
"o" in the second with the accent on the first syllable: BRI-o-nee. I
actually think it's a lovely name, but I could never use it since it ends in
an -ee sound and would therefore rhyme with our last name (ick).

That's how I'd pronounce it. I dunno, either way, it's not an attractive
looking or sounding name to me. I think you'd get people accidentally
moving the Y around to make it Byrony.

Haha! That's a good one. What is it with DH's? They always seem to
be able to come up with some bad variation on just about any name.
