Question from confused mum
I had my 12 week booking in scan yesterday, and I was told I had a
twin pregnancy but the other sac was completely empty. I have been admitted to hospital with heavy bleeding 3 times since my pregnancy was confirmed, the last and most severe episode being a week ago. Is this vanishing twin syndrome? I had always assumed that I was carrying only one baby. The remaining baby seems fine, but today I feel "strange" and empty. my stomach bump has gone, and isn;t as firm. I would be grateful for any advice. Lynsey |

Question from confused mum
greetings Lynsey;
don't worry about this twin pregnancy. once a women go to hospital for pregnancy checkup and the Ultrasound result confirmed that she was carrying twin baby and doctors advice for second ultrasound scan in a month time. on her second scan it was observed that she was carrying only one baby. the confusion comes from the interpretation of the ultrasound that it was the big amniotic sack(bag) who seems twin. so it is a good idea to make sure that it is twin by taking another scan the time the fetus is approaching to some 20 weeks. |
