just got off the phone with my mother. Dad picked up lyme disease, although
the docs believe they've caught it in Stage 1. Mom took the tick of Dad on
about June 4, but they only found the disease today. No bull's-eye rash,
just a swelling around the site the size of an adult's palm and a temp for
the last couple days. So, he's on anti-biotics and not feeling much good
for anything. Prognosis is generally good, although they cannot ever rule
out long term effects. But, since he's had life long repeats with the
Malaria he picked up in Korea or Japan fifty plus years ago and has done
fine, perhaps he'll do a repeat with this one. Even so, your prayers are
appreciated, perhaps as much for Mom, who is a number one worrier type, as
for him.

sigh i hope he responds well & quickly to the antibiotics.
the "typical bull's eye rash" shows up in less than half the
cases. i don't know *why* it's considered 'typical'.
anyway, *all* ticks in the Northeast should be considered
suspect & should be turned in for testing, *especially* if
they were attached to a child or elderly person &/or you don't
know how long they were attached (it takes about 24-36 housrs
to pass the virus through feeding)
lee who knows Aula knows this already
