PTA Fundraiser - Need Commitments
I have a great PTA fundraiser for any PTA chairs/moms in the
elementary school system. Visit www.pressdough.com or my blogspot at www.pressdough.blogspot.com. I have created "the cookie clipper", which is a set of 4 shaped cookie cutters, strategically arranged and clipped together so that with only one press of the dough, you create 4 cutouts. It is easy, fast, and fun. I offer three different options of fundraising opportunities. With our, all-in-one, cookie decorating activity kit, it is the prefect fundraiser for holiday time or in the "off" months (Valentine's Day)when schools need additional funds. Children love to bake and decorate cookies. This is the perfect activity and fundraiser to create a family memory and have fun doing it. We can offer on-line payments. That means, you don't have to collect money and it is so easy to sell to friends and family over email. Look us up! |

I don't get stressed out at baking time, but wouldn't mind saving on the number of times I have to roll out the dough. lol. I might buy one on the shelves in the cookier cutter aisles over a single cutter. I would also take out the whole story about how you lost the contest, as it appears to make you somewhat of a sore loser trying to catch up. Either you have a great product or you don't. Get it into stores, if you aren't infringing on any patents, and just sell them. Some people would rather cut 4 cookies at a time and others don't care. I don't see it as a great fundraiser though. I don't understand what the big deal about posting that is. It isn't like she's the Nike spammer we've had here for months and months. When I'm finally able to share that invention I started last year here, you gonna "turn me in?" or is that different because I've been here for a couple of years now? |

And, because there are other spammers and commercial advertisers, more is OK?? What do you tell your kids when they say "everyone else does it"?? THIS ISN'T A COMMERCIAL NEWSGROUP. To cast a worldwide net for a *fundraiser* (thereby trying to garner funds for some PTA we don't know, let alone that larger amount that goes to the pro fundraising firm!) is ridiculous. So, Chris - you're trying to pave the way for *your* commercial stuff sometime soon? Well, you have been around; I'd consider it part of the community atmosphere if you were reasonable and sparing about it - but, would the next drive-by profiteer or fundraiser point to *you* like you just pointed to the Nikie spam? Do you want every MLM'er who comes along, trying against hope to get their piece of the pyramid, who happens to have kids, push their stuff here? Laundry soap, anyone?? Usenet is barely hanging on as it is. Newcomers who would become real contributors are turned off by the spam and commercial schtuff as it is (and, can't you use filters? Why do you even see the Nikie stuff?) How about here, and in real life, having some sensitivity to people's concerns about what kind of world it is if every social connection, face to face or not, is sullied by what $$$$$$$$ can be made? The big deal is that is everyone who had some stupid little product to sell that in any way related to kids, the newsgroup would be overrun by ads. When I'm finally able to share that invention I started last year here, you gonna "turn me in?" or is that different because I've been here for a couple of years now? The main question is, 'is it spam?' Jeff |

Chris, I'm getting really frustrated by the Spam here. I've set up filters,
but still there's often more spam than non-spam. I'm seriously thinking of quitting the groups because of the spam. I have to say that I've almost never seen spam on a group like this and even been tempted to check it out. I think I've done it once in 5 years of posting, That was done by a regular member, who didn't post it as a web address but mentioned it on a relevent post, and asked if anyone was interested to email her and she'd send them the web address. I'm not sure that would count as spam. If you're wanting to advertise something I think the best way is to put it in your signature. You can mention it on relevent posts, but not twisting everything round to make it seem relevent. I have checked out website signatures from people I recognise as regular posters. I have learned to filter it out mentally, that is, not pay attention to it. I also learned to quickly forward the message including full headers to the IP of the spammer. The IP address is in the header, and there are tools that let you find the IP real quick. I think this is the only way to keep these spammers at bay. |

I get what your saying, but like I said, seeing how we've discussed
fundraisers in the past, many aspects of it, it just seemed to sort of fit here to me and was most unlike other spamming in multitude as of late. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe people here have actually outright asked for fundraising suggestions/alternatives to the usual. So it would have been fine if she had posted that information in that thread, but it isn't because she just jumped in and put it out there. |

Jeees. Banty- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Honestly, I love seeing what other mothers (women with children who are often inspired by their children or prompted into creativity upon having them to find ways to spend time with them) have created and based businesses upon, so that sort of thing doesn't bother me one wit. I believe I had originally discussed my "thing" with Nikki (sp?) way back when it hit me to get a patent for it after I had been using it successfully for a while myself. I probably would have just pinged her here to share it, as we had discussed prior, so I wanted to know how that would be treated. lol. I just find it odd that someone would feel the need to turn someone in for a post on a message board that actually touches on past subjects, but I can completely see why someone would turn someone who repeatedly posts on the same boards over and over and over again. lol. I've really never felt the need to filter and instead choose which posts I will ignore. If anyone really wants usenet and is turned off by the spam - can't THEY filter? Why would it chase them off? The whole "children" scenario, well, it doesn't deserve any explanation--maybe it is just one of those things that some people see in black and white while others see shades of gray. shrug |
