OT-Good toddler development book?
Does anyone have a book they recommend which goes through developmental
stages on a regular basis (week by week or month by month) for young toddlers? I had a good one for Alli's first year, but nothing on the second year, and since she's right at the borderline between being at the slow end of normal and having an actual delay, I'd like to know what things I should be watching for. -- Donna DeVore Metler Orff Music Specialist/Kindermusik Mother to Angel Brian Anthony 1/1/2002, 22 weeks, severe PE/HELLP And Allison Joy, 11/25/04 (35 weeks, PIH, Pre-term labor) |

I think that it's simply less precise with older children. I like The Mighty Toddler, by Robin Barker, but it might be hard for you to find. Does your paediatrician have a checklist? -- Chookie -- Sydney, Australia (Replace "foulspambegone" with "optushome" to reply) "In Melbourne there is plenty of vigour and eagerness, but there is nothing worth being eager or vigorous about." The authors of the series, What to Expect when You're Expecting, also has What to Expect the First Year, as well as What to Expect (for toddlers, age 24 months to 36 months) sorry, can't remember what the actual title is. It has a month-by-month development thing and fair amount of advice.Your local health centre should have development stuff though. I was able to get my ds evaluated for a speech delay through his immunization nurse. Stasya |

Have you subscribed (free) to any online sites that offer you weekly development information? Babycenter.com Parents.com I'm sure there are more. ~Carol Ann |
