vein grow abnormally under skin
Hi,
My nephew 7 years old has abnormal vein grow on the lower right abdoment. The vein can been seen clearly growing underneath the lower skin. On the upper skin can see blood clot which turns to be in brown color. He does not complain of pain. This vein grow become very obvious1 years ago. We didn't notice that when he was a baby. Anyone has any idea what is causing this and what is the medical terms of this problem. You can see the photo in http://www.geocities.com/bolehmana/vein_photo.html |

From the look of it, it seems to me like it's a growth of veins called an "angioma". More info on this page: http://www.dermnetnz.org/vascular/an...rpiginosa.html But please don't be satisfied with any advise you get here (misc.health.alternative), take the kid to a doctor's office. -- Robert Bronsing |

Thanks for all the advices. From the angioma picture on the web page above, the red/brown blood vessels look similar to the sympthom of my nephew. But something not common is the abnormal vein growth, like the vein clot that we see on lower leg (Deep-vein thrombosis). When I touch on the infected area, I can feel the vein. Could it be something else. His parent has sent him for CT scan, we are waiting for report. I want to get more opinion here. |

More here.. http://www.drgreene.com/21_1107.html ...it sounds like your nephew has a combination of a "Strawberry hemangioma" and a "Cavernous hemangiomas". One of our twins was born with a hemangioma (spelling) on his back. It doesn't have the red/black surface spots but does have a deeper vein like structure. The doctors said they usually dissapear on their own but can take a few years. |

Might be a form of caput medusae.
Definately should be seen by a doctor. MEG |
