Angela J. Cancio of Tampa called her son's girlfriend nasty names, and
after a fight broke out, she stabbed her 16-year-old boy's left arm with
a pair of scissors, causing a 2-inch cut, deputies say.

Hillsborough County deputies arrested Cancio, 38, at 5:42 p.m. Sunday.
She was charged with aggravated child abuse.

Two children also were arrested following the incident, sheriff's
spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.

Cancio was home with her son and his 16-year-old girlfriend, as well as
two boys, ages 15 and 12.

Cancio's connection to those boys isn't clear.

Cancio started an argument with the girl by insulting her, Carter said.
Angela Cancio's son confronted his mother about the name calling, and
the 15-year-old boy intervened to defend Angela Cancio.

Those two boys got into a physical altercation, Carter said.

"While they're fighting, Angela comes up with a pair of scissors and
stabs" her 16-year-old son in the arm, Carter said.

The other child, 12, then went over to the girl and slapped her, Carter
said.

The 15-year-old boy was charged with battery-domestic violence, and the
12-year-old was charged with battery and culpable negligence because the
girl he slapped was holding her 3-month-old child at the time, Carter
said.
