Soon to be dad. Scared about SIDS
What else can my wife and I do to help prevent SIDS?
Here is what I know so far: No stomach sleeping Nothing in the crib Firm mattress I've also read that baby should sleep in the same room with the parents. Is this correct? What else? Thanks! |

Personally, I use sleeping bags (like these http://www.gro-group.co.uk/grobag/br...ysleepingbags/) so that she can't get tangled up in blankets - my cousin died that way. It also stops the baby kicking the blankets off and waking up cold. There are some tips at http://www.cyh.com/HealthTopics/Heal...np=305&id=1704 Enjoy your baby! When is it due? Lucy x |

Here is some offiicial advice. http://www.sids.org.uk/babycare.html To add what others have said don't sleep with the baby if either parents has been drinking. taking drugs, sleeping pills. If you are co-sleeping follow the above guidelines for safe sleeping. Don't fall asleep on the sofa with your baby. Admittedly this one I found hard as we both just drifted off when bf'ing. There was a story of a woman who did such a thing and smothered her baby. it made me cry but I still found it hard on the nights he would not sleep. HTH Jeni |
