Is coconut considered a tree nut, ie should it be avoided until 5 years
old as well?

I can't tell you anything scientifically, but in my own experience, I have
never had a reaction to coconut, though I am allergic to all tree nuts. I
would think that coconut is more like a fruit, but don't quote me on it.

WHere I was born coconut water is recommended for hydrating babies and
adults instead of pedialyte and other hydrating solutions.
Peds recomend it so I doubt that coconut is alergenic or they would be
liable for a law suit...

Botanically though, the whole coconut is a "nut" (ie seed) but a little
large to choke on

Oh, the image....hehehe

I guess the question is whether coconut "flesh" or milk/cream (pulped flesh)
is an allergen, but sorry - I do not know.

Yes, that was the question, silly :-).
