Default Question about baby poops...

Emergency poop, I understand, is red (bloody)

Red poop is not even an emergency. If there is only a tiny amount it could
mean a fissure in the rectum or something they ate (if the child is older).
The poop that *is* a problem is if it is black and that means that they are
bleeding internally.

I just didn't want anyone alarmed at red poop unnecessarily. )

You're right, black is probably more like it. Although, of course, meconium
normally looks black so....

Anyway, I meant there's reason for emergency concern if the poop is mostly or
entirely red/black, not if there's a little bit of blood mixed into normal
poop.

I also found that--at least on cloth--ordinary poo
would sort of oxidize from a mustard to a deep emerald green. It only took
some minutes of drying for the color to change like that.

*That's* what that is?!? I could never figure it out, and didn't ever look at
the normal looking diapers later, since we have a front-loading washer and I
can't see into the machine once I dump the diapers in. I puzzled and puzzled
over that, and eventually decided it was normal (good thing!).

Yep. ) Glad you mentioned that meconium is black. I would hate to have
worried a new mom, who didn't know.
