Default I'm selling them all to the gypsies!

Oh, boy, I love my kids, but sometimes, they really test me! Since I took
over from Ninian (my au pair) less than an hour ago, it has been a non-stop
whine-, fight-, cryfest. Aurora has peed her pants (got to the bathroom just
a tad too late), Vernon has tripped and fallen twice, and Julian stubbed his
toe badly enough to make it bleed. Aurora and Julian have fought over a pair
of identical sofa pillows, Vernon is desperate to sit in Aurora's booster
seat despite the fact that he has his own across the table, and Aurora wants
Vernon's sippy cup instead of the cup I gave her. Oh, for Calgon to take me
away!

It's a darn good thing they're so cute when they'e sleeping...

Perhaps we could work out a swap for an equally annoying trio of children
I'll send you my 3 bickering mimis and you send me yours. At least then the
voices will be different.

Days like this are inevitable and unpredictable. The stars misalign and you
find yourself in trouble. I can trace ~50% of the rancor between my girls
to being tired. They come by the rest "honestly".

You can try what I do... start singing

"Oh I wish I was in the land of cotton
Old times there are not forgotten
Look away, look away, look away Dixieland"

Sometimes my girls will take it down a notch or two after they hear me
singing that song. Most times not.

Good luck!

Must be sunspots or something affecting them because my kids were equally
annoying today. ;-)

It's Nature's way of preserving the species. Otherwise, humans would have
become extinct long ago. It's called the "cute little human" factor which
keeps us on the planet.

BTW, I see many people on this thread who are also posting on the
misc.kids.family-life test group. Just to let you know the test site is
having some server difficulties but we'll be back as soon as possible.

Ha - isn't that the truth. Must be something in the air. Hunter threw a
wopping fit for 30 minutes yesterday because I wouldn't hold *Luke*. Jeez.

I long to be a SAHM and then I have a day like this and I nearly dance to
work ;-)

Glory, glory hallelujah
Glory, glory hallelujah
Glory, glory hallelujah
His truth is marching on

So hush little baby
Don't you cry
You know your daddy's bound to die
But all my trials Lord soon be over

Glory, glory hallelujah

His truth is marching on
His truth is marching on

You can't sell them to the gypsies. They have to
have money left to buy mine. I will be very glad when
school starts again and we get back to a more structured
life ;-) The good news, however, is that even though they
have different school supplies, they didn't go crazy
coveting each other's supplies. I thought for sure we'd
be going down that road.

No kidding. I hear that works even into the teen
years ;-) I always make it a point to check on them at
night--ostensibly to make sure they're not sleeping half
on/half off the bed, but really to remind myself what
sweethearts they are even if I forgot for a moment during
the day!

Hang in there!
Ericka

LOL. I have to admit, for a while there, I was considering PAYING the
gypsies to take them! In which case, they could have paid double for yours!

Seriously, though I feel a bit guilty for complaining about them. Within an
hour, they were *much* improved. It was like they were just possessed by
demons for a short period of time there. And really, Julian and Aurora were
absolute gems yesterday morning when they had to go to the dentist for the
fillings. Aurora even did so well that we cut the number of visits required
to fill all the cavities from four to three.

I will be very glad when
school starts again and we get back to a more structured
life ;-)

Oh, you and me both. Monday can't come soon enough!

Hyperbole can be very healing. :-)

We all have moments like this, where we're willing to sell 'em to the
gypsies. I upset a friend greatly when I once said I was ready to toss my
baby out the window. She never had kids so she was aghast that I could
make such a statement. You have to be a parent to appreciate the humor
but we've all been there.

Noreen (btw, the misc.kids.family-life test group is back and up and
running at www.gweep.ca. Please stop by and check us out if you haven't
had a chance to do so).
