32wk checkup
I went in for my 32 week checkup yesterday. The doc and I had a long,
hard, detailed talk about my pelvic/pubic pain and she spent a lot of time feeling around my lower abdomen. Finally someone is listening to me! It's just too bad that I had to go through so much pain in the meantime. The doc discovered that the baby is already engaged, and his head is well down into my pelvis which accounts for the increased pressure I've been feeling down there the past week or so. The doc came to the conclusion that he's probably pinching a bunch of nerves, and it got considerably more painful when he moved down. She decided it was severe enough to warrant sending me to a physical therapist next week. I'm really hoping this other doc will be able to provide me with some relief. Is 32 weeks to early to be engaged? Doc said that he could dislodge and swim around for a bit longer before going back down but that the baby was far enough down that she didn't think he would do that. My mom seems convinced that this means that I'll go into pre-term labor and has therefore scared the crap out of me. Otherwise my checkup was fine, urine, BP (124/68) were all good though my weight was up a little and they weren't too happy about that. Darn you cadbury eggs!! That and I've been on a baking frenzy on the days that I haven't felt too painful here lately (2 apple crisps and a blackberry cobbler in the past 2 weeks, ouch...) My next appointment at 34 weeks is on my birthday (March 31) and I'm hoping as a birthday gift my doc will up my due date a couple weeks. Fat chance I know, but I can still hope! 8 weeks left to go. I can't wait to meet this kid! Angela EDD W/Quinn Alexander 5-13-04 |

32wk checkup
(((((Angela))))),
I am so happy that your Dr is going to do something for your pain. I have been in pain for quite a while not because my baby is engaged but because she is big. And depending on how she moved the pain has been horrible. I hope that you get much better soon. I think that you can discuss the problem of pre-term labor with your Dr. I wouldn't panic though, because if there was any immediate problem I am sure your Dr would have told you so. Pampering vibes to you. Love -- Nicky Scheduled C-section March 22, '04. It's a girl! Fur Babies |

Some babies are just extra cooperative ;-) My first two were engaged very early, and I never went into preterm labor. Best wishes, Ericka |

32wk checkup
Hi Angela
I'm glad you are getting some help for your pelvic pain. When I read your subject line I thought "wow she is getting close" then I realised I'm due only 4 days after you!!!! Ahhh!!! We are getting close!!!! I don't know whether to be excited or freaked out :-) I can't believe they commented on your weight - that's just mean. The blackberry cobbler sounds delicous :-P - you've made me hungry now..... Camille - off to the pantry..... |

32wk checkup
LOL.. Well, I have been hitting the sweets too much here lately. I've
just had such a powerful craving for tarty fruit pies!!! It's no wonder I've probably gained a little too much weight since my last appointment. We are getting close! It's either going to feel too short, like we're running out of time or like time is dragging on forever. Personally I feel like this pregnancy is taking way longer than it needs to but maybe that's just because I'm starting to get so anxious about meeting my baby. I'm both excited and freaked out. I can't wait to see how I'm going to feel when I get really close to my due date! I've ordered myself away from chocolate and fruit pies... I don't need to have issues with losing weight after I deliver and it's probably better I watch my weight closer due to the fact that I was overweight before I got pregnant anyway and I tend to have difficulty dropping the pounds. Fat chance I know, but I can still hope! #2 was engaged by my 28 week check up. I did find staying on my feet for long caused pain round there, but not to the extent you're describing. She got engaged, and stayed engaged too. #2 arrived about 1 week early. As 2nd aren't meant to be engaged until labour begins, I though I would labour early, but she was only slightly earlier than #1. It meant I got very impatient, which was a lot worse than being surprised by labour for #1 (2 days late). I asked here whether she was likely to be early as she was engaged, and got a pretty resounding "no", with similar stories to mine. I don't think it's worth worrying about. Debbie (who worried about it anyway!) |
