Do we have any June due dates still hanging around? If so, it's not
going to be much longer now ;-)

I have to wait until the 28th. I hope she comes earlier, though,
because I've been having a hard time sleeping - including the heart
burn we discussed in another thread. I had a real scare about two
nights ago. I awoke not being able to breathe (almost - I succeeded in
"keuchende geräusche"), and that continued until I was able to get
enough air to cough. I thought it was over until I went to the
bathroom, was going to blow my nose, had the urge to cough, and out it
came. I still had the pain and took a rennie. I can't believe how much
easier I slept.

I can't just let the juices burn for a couple hours before I go to bed
(sitting up in bed it actually the right phrase), and I have to keep
my feet up as well because of the stupind water in my legs. The sooner
this kid comes out, the happier I will be. And I ain't just whistling
dixie!

For the water retention and the heartburn:
Cucumbers with salt sprinkled on helps with the water retention. Eat
plenty of salt! In the hot weather we sweat more, so we lose more salt
and that has to be replenished because if there's not enough salt in the
blood the blood can't hold on to the water and it starts "leaking" into
the tissue... At least that's how I understood it from various sources.
Almonds or Cashews are supposed to help with heartburn. My midwife also
suggested eating lots of veggies as they reduce the acid, too. Cooked
potatoes (if possible eat them with the skins) are supposed to help as well.

I didn't think about the salt, though. Since Michael also bought a
cucumber, we have enough that'll have to be eaten before it goes bad.
I think that'll make a good snack today.

Almonds are good. I've been using them since the last thread. Trouble
is, they don't help well enough anymore. I didn't know about cashews
(I love them). Michael bought me hazelnuts, but I really don't like
them very much, even though that's the preferred nut in Germany
(against heartburn, too).

I'll try just about anything because I'm really unhappy with having
heartburn during the day, too. And I hate being stuck on my sofa
almost the whole day just so I can have my feet up. My computer's
cable is broken, so I have to sit at the desk to write, which limits
the amount of time at the computer. What fun :-/

PS I just realized today that I'm in the June thread - should have
been July - ugh! Not thinking clearly

Just don't eat too much cucumber late in the day, it'll make you run to
the toilet every hour during the night (guess how I know that...)

See, I'm allergic to nuts, especially hazelnuts... I have found out what
caused my really bad heartburn though, it was the maltbeer I was craving
*lol* Since I've cut that out I'm doing a lot better. At least I was
until the last two days, but I guess there's nothing I can do this time
as the madam pushes her butt up into my stomach and I guess there's just
not enough room for food anymore :-/

Eh, that sucks. I'm knitting a lot lately. I have the DVD player in the
bedroom so I sit in bed and knit on my shawl and watch movies whenever I
feel really yuck. (Repeat this mantra: Only 6-10 more weeks....)
Sam has his last day of school on Friday, I hope the weather gets good
enough to hang out at the pool after that. My midwife recommended
swimming for the water retention, but ever since she recommended that
it's been cold and rainy. I know that swimming (ok, or standing in the
water watching Sam) also helps with the uncomfortable feeling of baby
pressing down and up and sideways and everywhere. Maybe you can go
swimming once or even a few times during the week?
I really hope the next weeks will get better again because Sam's already
spending an awful lot of time with my brother, and apparently he's
watching a _lot_ of TV. Ugh.

Hi :-) Would have replied sooner, but yesterday I had to hold the
cable constantly while doing anything, and it got so wearysome that I
just turned the darn thing off. I'm using a different comp today.
Which isn't much better. I had to save my answer on the editor so I
wouldn`t have to remember everything, because it disconnected itself
in some strange way from the internet. Real pain!

I don't mind having to get up all night because I've been doing that
the whole nine months, anyway. However, I do confess to immensely
enjoying the few times I actually slept most of the night. I did have
some eventful nights, like the night I fell asleep on the toilet and
woke up not being able to move because both legs and the left arm had
fallen asleep. I had to yell for my husband to come and help me up.
fun.

I am really glad I don't have too many allergies. But I don't think
I'd mind being allergic to hazelnuts ;-)

My legs are not getting too much better, and now I have tingling in my
hands. I took my wedding ring off the day before yesterday. I don`t
really look bigger, but it is disconcerting how the indents don't
disappear. I'm thinking about drinking that pregnancy tea again that
was recommended to me. It's not really bad, but it did help my
heartburn get worse (which is why I'm not so gung-ho about the whole
thing).

I know a bit how you feel about TV. I feel somewhat guilty about Cody
watching so much tv, but I am just not up to playing with him. He
always wants me to play cars or trains with him, but I just can get
down on the floor for that long, anymore. It is definitely not
comfortable Luckily, he is at the Kindergarten most of the day. I
don't know what I would do if I didn't have that. And I do try to have
him watch more educational TV. I just bought him an activity book with
dinosaurs, and have been doing the activities without using the
pencils at night before bed. Now he really wants to color and draw the
lines through the mazes, so he might be too busy to watch tv today (at
least I hope so).

have my CTG today at 2 pm, looking forward to that. Even wrote down
some of my complaints so that I would actually talk about them while
there, instead of my usual, "oh, everythings fine, considering."

I'm so glad I'll be considered full-term after this week. Maybe then I
can encourage the bh contractions I've sometimes had while walking.
Walking also helps bring the swelling down.

gotta get ready for the Doc.

Oh, that sounds sooooo cumbersome. So you think it's the cable that's
broken or something else? If it's just he cable you'll probably be able
to pick one up for a couple of euros...

Oh boy... For me, by the time I reach the bathroom I'm usually awake and
then I can't go back to sleep for ages. So I usually end up sitting in
front of the computer reading my newsgroups and surfing blogs and
*cough* ebay *cough*. Honestly, are people crazy? Cloth diapers. Used
cloth diapers. Where the owner says "Oh, the Velcro might need to be
replaced..." (which would be a royal pain in the butt to do) go for
nearly as much as the new ones! I just ordered some flannel and Velcro
and fleece and I'll see about sewing my own. I have three fitted cloth
diapers right here and all they are is a shaped piece of fabric with
elastic on the legs and Velcro for closing them and there's a large
strip of fabric sewn to the front you just fold into the diaper. I can
do that myself and not pay 200 Euros for 20 diapers and 20 inserts and 5
wraps! It's not that I think 200Euros is really expensive, but I just
can't afford that lump of money all in one go.

My legs are not getting too much better, and now I have tingling in my
hands. I took my wedding ring off the day before yesterday. I don`t

What kind of tea is that? I only know nursing tea and the strawberry
(??) leaf tea that's supposed to be good for getting ready for birth. I
think I had some of that strawberry leaf stuff and found it to taste
really disgusting, and I _like_ tea...

I just bought him an activity book with

*g* that's a cool idea. We sometimes buy childrens magazines, like
"Benjamin Bluemchen" or "Bussy Baer" there's stories and games and
stuff. Now if only they'd leave of those stupid toys I'd be happy...

Yeah, I know what you mean. That's why I like having my midwife come
here. She takes her time and we chat and I remember a lot more that she
"needs to know" than I ever did in the 5 seconds my gyn would see me.
No CTG's for me and no more ultrasounds either yay (that is if there's
no complications).

I'm so glad I'll be considered full-term after this week. Maybe then I
can encourage the bh contractions I've sometimes had while walking.

YES! I'm exactly 33+0 today. So I'm 34 weeks, so I have another 4-6
weeks to go. OMG... I think I need to get cracking on the sewing cloth
diapers... I have some old sheets and stuff I can cut up to practice,
better do that today....

New things my body does: Heartburn again in the middle of the night.
Morning sickness! YAY I'm so glad it's back... NOT. Madam's just pushing
up and out and everywhere so hard there's no more room for food. So I
wake up feeling sick because I'm really "too hungry" already and then
when I eat I feel sick because there's nowhere for the food to actually
go because her butt is in the way. So I'm sleeping with the bucket next
to the bed again.... Fun times...

It's raspberry leaf tea that is supposed to be a uterine tonic, not
strawberry leaf tea. Just thought you might want to know.

Can you play some variation of cars or trains with him up at the table or
counter, so that you can sit or stand, and he can be on a chair or barstool?
