Preschool......2 or 3 days a week?
Andrea, I am sorry I'm responding late. Perhaps you've already made your
decision and it's hard telling what all your responses have been. I just have a small suggestion. (This is a topic heavily on my mind as well.) Like you, I do not really enjoy it when the girls are in PDO/Preschool. I'm doing it because I think it's what is best for them. It's really hard to find just the right balance for each girl so it is a real benefit to each personality, too. I've come up with a VERY non-scientific formula: One day per each year of age. Like I said - not very scientific! Our PDO program is 4 hours including 30min drop off and 30min pick up times. The preschool starts at the age of 2 with one 2-hr day. Last year, when the girls were 1 1/2, they went on Thursdays. This upcoming year they will be 2 1/2. I've signed them up for Wed's 2 hour preschool and Monday/Friday PDO program. I found this to be too much in my head, but Rich is really "for" it. Our Preschool director knows how I feel and said I can always try it out and cancel Monday or Friday once we see how it goes. Maybe you could do this, too? My next suggestion is being a room parent. I told our director that I just feel so lonely and bored when they are in the class, but I don't want to base my decision on my needs. A logical solution became so clear. I'm going to be a room parent on Monday or Friday. This will be a wonderful opportunity to see how the girls interact with a large group of children, etc. I will feel like I'm still being productive. I'm really excited. I can still cancel Mon or Fri if I believe the girls only need 6 hours a week. Maybe you could look into this, too? Just food for thought. I'm sure whatever you decide will work out wonderfully. It's just committing to the decision that is hard Good luck, Missy Missy in Indiana http://hometown.aol.com/mhrust/overviewforng.html Morgan Olivia & Julia Lucille 4/28/01 (YAY!) |
