Bird flu hype
"Ra?ï?g L???i?" wittered
What makes 'Bird flu' a greater threat NOW, then it was in past has more to do with our sensitzation to the fact that such a thing HAS HAPPENED and thus will happen again, some millenium ... On the main, people are chasing their tail on this one. Yeah; and the fact that there are many more people around living at higher densities - oh, and that little-known fact that people flying around in poorly air-conditioned jets makes the spread easier and just a little quicker. What is *really* remarkable is how much some people lose all common sense when discussing these issues. Rocket science it ain't. Serious risk - of course it is. Certainty? No. Andrew |

Sanitation and public health was sooo much better 100+ years ago ... 5 people to a bed ... spit in a mug to clean it out. No pesticides ... The good old days, eh? ...- oh, and that little-known fact that people flying around in poorly air-conditioned jets makes the spread easier and just a little quicker. Yes, I am well aware of such factors. As I am with the much greater prevelence of reporting and dissemination of news concerning the incidents of such things occuring. ... Just astonishing, this plague of new flu deaths in the past few years. A mystery why a select few African/Asian countries don't have a single reported case of AIDS, too, eh? ...Rocket science it ain't. What is *really* remarkable is how much some people lose all common sense when discussing these issues. Like the notice in my family physicians office, during the SARS epidemic in Toronto. Please sanitize your hands upon entering the office. ( There was no mention about doing so when leaving. Not the doctor's concern, eh?) ....Rocket science it ain't. Rocket science it ain't. Serious risk - of course it is. Certainty? No. .... Especially with what one is oblivious in regard. It's what one doesn't know that usually kills. ... NOT what "is" known to be dangerous. RL Andrew ... Now, I understand! ... you care about spread via air travel. Perfect. Pure NIMBY |
