CROWN POINT | A Child Protective Services driver pleaded guilty Thursday
to billing the agency for more than $30,000 in false overtime and mileage.

Tannette Kinnon, 45, of the 7000 block of Locust Avenue, Gary, faces
three years in prison when sentenced for theft and official misconduct.

Kinnon pleaded guilty as charged, without a plea agreement.

While Kinnon admitted she overbilled the company for mileage, she denied
billing for trips she didn't make. Instead, she told Lake Criminal Court
Judge Thomas P. Stefaniak Jr. she wasn't trained properly in how to fill
out mileage reimbursement forms.

When Stefaniak questioned her, Kinnon said if she went to Indianapolis
and stopped at several towns along the way, she counted the mileage to
each of those towns separately as if she started in Lake County and
drove only there and back.

Court records indicate Kinnon also submitted vouchers for 104,349 miles,
but the odometer on her car read 65,771. In addition, she was paid more
than $17,000 in unearned overtime, court records show.

Imagine that, 6.4 children die at the hands of the very agencies that
are supposed to protect them and only 1.5 at the hands of parents per
100,000 children. CPS perpetrates more abuse, neglect, and sexual abuse
and kills more children then parents in the United States. If the
citizens of this country hold CPS to the same standards that they hold
parents too. No judge should ever put another child in the hands of ANY
government agency because CPS nationwide is guilty of more harm and
death than any human being combined. CPS nationwide is guilty of more
human rights violations and deaths of children then the homes from which
they were removed. When are the judges going to wake up and see that
they are sending children to their death and a life of abuse when
children are removed from safe homes based on the mere opinion of a
bunch of social workers.
