Default Miscarriage/ectopic

I had an early scan this morning following bleeding and cramps. It turns
out I have either miscarried as my uterus is completely clear or it is
ectopic. I had a blood test to see if my hormone levels were decreasing,
which would show it was a miscarriage, but when I phoned for the results
tonight, they had lost the blood!!! So I have to go back tomorrow morning
for another result.

I have a very very slight discomfort on my right hand side, not really a
pain. Apparently there is a little amount of free fluid in the pelvic area,
I have had very light bleeding for over 2 weeks now. The hospital seem to
think it is a miscarriage, but of course I am imagining all sorts.

Feel surprisingly ok about the miscarriage, don't think we had had long
enough to get attached or too excited, especially as I had been bleeding. I
was given a miscarriage leaflet to read, one of the questions under "getting
back to normal" was "how soon can I resume housework?". It certainly made
us laugh quite a lot, in what might have been a difficult time.

Now keeping it all crossed that I have only had a miscarriage and not
ectopic. I keep telling myself that I would be in much more pain if I was
experiecing an ectopic pregnancy.

Sorry Maggie, thinking of you.

You may have had an ectopic but miscarried naturally, this happened to me a
couple of months ago.

I'm so sorry to hear about your m/c!

Make sure they get to the bottom of this, an ectopic pregnancy can be
very dangerous. You may have miscarried, but IME that would involve
more heavy bleeding. OTOH, each woman is different in that respect.

Feel surprisingly ok about the miscarriage, don't think we had had long
enough to get attached or too excited, especially as I had been bleeding.

It depends on several things how you feel. Laughing is always good,
but for me the real blow didn't come until I actually started to m/c.
As if a protective shell was pealed away, I was suddenly exposed to
all the gut-wrenching emotions. However, I was 11w along, which may
make a difference. My point being: don't be surprised if you find
you have many 'hidden' emotions about this that surface at the
weirdest moment. Take care!

That's awful all around Maggie! Have you had a blood test already?
They will need two at least a day apart to see if your levels are
dropping. Why are they so confident it is a miscarriage, rather than
ectopic? Just know that if it is ectopic and hasn't gotten too bad
they can treat it on the spot with drugs and you will likely be just
fine (physically) within 4-6 weeks.

Please stay on top of it and don't let them be too cavalier (I can't
believe they lost your blood!) Depending on the hospital they might
not see too many ectopics but your symptoms sound suspicious. I have
been wondering about your situation since you posted that other
message.

Good luck to you, and I'm sorry for your loss.

I went to the hospital this morning to get a form to go have another blood
test and it turns out that they did have my last results, they had filed
them under my maiden name! Luckily my hormone levels have gone down to 387.
I have to go back tomorrow for another, and hopefully final, test. However,
just to complicate matters, since about 4 o clock this afternoon I have had
very bad intermittent pain in my right side. Sometimes it is agony, other
times it is barely there. I phoned my doctor who said that as my hormone
levels were dropping it couldn't be an ectopic pregnancy. I also said that
the bleeding was slightly worse. He wasn't at all worried but it is still
in the back of my mind. It comes and goes, and it much better when I take
pain killers. The bleeding isn't a huge amount by any means. What I a
wondering is, could the foetus have died so my hormone levels will drop but
the foetus is still ectopic? Could I be miscarrying now? It is all so
confusing. I will see how the pain goes, then ask the doctor tomorrow night
when I phone the maternity unit for my blood test results. Is there
anything else I should look out for in the meantime? As I'm not "pregnant",
ie my levels are dropping considerably, will the foetus expel itself, or can
it get really bad and rupture? Or am I just worrying unnecessarily?

To be honest, all this is worrying me and upsetting me far more than lost
pregnancy. I just want it all sorted.
