Default Normal heart rate?

Normally, my heart, I think, is beating at about 80ish bpm...
Lately, though, actually a few times today, it seems to have gone just wild
and about an hour and a half ago, I counted and it was 118bpm... Just now,
it was at 126bpm.
Anyone know what a normal heart rate should be? I feel like this is
something that's been bothering me a lot lately, and especially a lot today.
I feel unusually tired, though, so maybe this is the reason? I just feel
real yuck today. No energy, no real emotion, nothing. I kind of feel
fairly detached, I guess, which is not something that I normally feel. I
feel almost like I am constantly dizzy. I've had a couple urges this
evening to vomit, and these feelings basically came out of nowhere... I just
felt this urge to throw up and started almost heaving, yet I managed
(somehow) to not puke up everything in my stomach.
Is this normal? Will this pass? Should I really care or is it nothing to
worry or be concerned about?
I try and relax, and that's when it seems like my heart rate goes pretty
high up. Just laying on the bed staring up at the ceiling, it's like it
goes nuts (when compared to normal)...
I guess a lot tonight, I just feel like garbage. No, I'm not sure why,
though. Could this be the reason why?

Sounds like a spot of tachychardia to me...

http://www.med.umich.edu/1libr/aha/aha_tachycar_car.htm

According to this site a normal heart rate is somewhere between 50 and 100
bpm. However, due to increased blood flow during pregnancy you can expect
your heart rate to be elevated without a medical problem. I just don't know
HOW elevated is normal in pregnancy. The dizziness goes hand in hand with
the elevated HR.

Could be that you are not feeling well and thus experiencing some anxiety.
Hence the lying down and trying to relax, which only makes your heart rate
go up because damn, I'm lying down so why aren't I relaxed... etc, etc...
When you are lying down you may also feel the elevated HR more - just like
the first time you felt baby movements was most likely when you were
relaxing in bed or on a sofa rather than frantically vacuuming before guests
came over. Lying down to relax is when we listen to our bodies and yours did
a bit of shouting

As I sit here, I measured my HR using the PC clock for time reference and it
was 120 bpm, but I'm actually sick (laryngitis and blocked sinus cavities
resulting in major facial pain). Also, if you are in the northern hemisphere
and it's hot, you could be reacting to the heat.

If the elevated HR continues beyond the next 24 hours and worries you, go
see a Dr and get your BP checked. At 20 weeks pg, are you having another
visit with your health care person (be it hospital, midwife, doula or
whoever) soon? You can question them about it.

Check out this link:

A discussion of rapid heart rate in pregnancy on a forum. The discussion
goes on for quite a bit, but the gist of it is that elevated HR is normal
during pregnancy unless accompanied by chest pain and shortness of breath
and a couple of other things. The dizziness tends to be normal and usual,
and not worrying unless you start getting lights in front of the eyes,
passing out kind of feelings.

60-100.

Sustained heartrate over 120 or spiking heart rate over 150 is
critical transport criteria in a trauma/medical patient for EMS standards.

Well, I'm trained to be paranoid, but if you were my patient and you
listed those symptoms, I would suggest you go see the doctor.

Do you have an anxiety disorder?

Okay, so I'm also trained to be paranoid.

Do you have a headache? Any visual disturbances? Any upper quadrant
pain? Swelling? How's your blood pressure?

Late nausea and a fast pulse can be linked to severe PE/ HELLP -- and
contrary to popular belief, you can actually get them in subsequent
pregnancies. I'd get checked out in your shoes, particularly if you
have any of the other symptoms.

I will caveat...for -some- people sustained tachycardia is normal.
When I take one particular medication, my heartrate is in the 100-130
range, and while I was in EMT training, it freaked people out some.
Now that my doc kicked that med off my regimen, it's now at a more
normal 80.

I had a very, very similar thing happen to me while pregnant. I think I
even posted about it. It was after I found out about my son having sb, and
I thought perhaps it was due to anxiety, but I think it was a virus. I had
a heart rate that ran 100-130 for three days. It was very hot and humid, I
felt panicky and felt like I couldn't breathe sometimes. I also felt dizzy
and just not well. I remember trying to relax and lie down, but it didn't
help. It felt worse when I lay down.

I called the doctor and monitored my blood pressure. Bp was fine, but the
heart rate stayed up for three days, and then it was gone. I also hady a
little diarrhea, though it wasn't excessive, and I didn't have to run to the
bathroom. After I saw the doctor, we figured it must have been some sort
of virus because hr didn't go up like that again. I hated it, though. It
was such a yucky feeling, and my chest and breathing felt so awful.

Do you think it's possibly a virus? Wouldn't hurt to call, though.
