Default MO: State hunts for child support

I love this line: "..this is really going to generate more bucks for moms".
Man, nothin' like spillin' the beans!

Bear in mind that what comes immediately after that line was NOT a quote.
It was added for PC purposes only. Wouldn't want to **** off anyone with
the truth, now would we..?

Yupper, it's all about the "best interest of the child". Riiight...

Feminazis are all clicking their heels and repeating, "It's all about me..
It's all about me.. It's all about me..." click-click

State hunts for child support
Budget would fund privately run call centers.

Published Tuesday, April 4, 2006
JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - Parents angry over missed child support payments soon
could be routed to a privately run call center instead of talking directly
with state investigators.

The intent of the switch is to allow state employees to spend more time
investigating complaints, tracking down deadbeat parents and getting them to
pay up, Department of Social Services Director Gary Sherman said Monday.

"The early evidence is this is really going to generate more bucks for
moms" - or dads, too, if they are the custodial parents, Sherman said.

The Senate Appropriations Committee yesterday went along with a nearly $2.6
million request to hire a private contractor for a statewide child support
call center. The appropriation was recommended by Gov. Matt Blunt and
already has passed the House.

The call center is projected to handle 62 percent of all child support
enforcement calls that come into the department's Family Support Division,
freeing up employees to work on harder-to-crack cases. "When clients call
in, they are angry, and they want to tell you their story," Sherman said.
"It takes a long time to tell you how bad someone else is."

Using about a dozen state and county prosecutor employees, the department
began a call center pilot project in January for two child support offices
in the St. Louis area and one each in Clay County and West Plains.

In two months, the income withholding orders for child support have
increased about 10 percent in those areas, while the percentage of cases in
which noncustodial parents are paying child support has grown 2.4 percent,
said Janel Luck, director of the Family Support Division.

Statewide, Missouri handles about 375,000 child support cases.

The budget for the state fiscal year starting July 1 still must pass the
full Senate and be reconciled with the House version. The General Assembly
has until May 5 to pass a final version of the budget.

State Auditor Claire McCaskill said in August that the state had not
distributed $4.1 million in child support collections.

Child support payments typically are held by the state if there is no
current address on file for the recipient, if the money is from an
intercepted tax refund or if the payment came in before it is due.

"The issues of errors within the system need to be addressed," said Jane
Spies, executive director of the National Family Justice Association.

DO the Math, CS is a cash cow for State Governments, that's why they're so
concerned for the children! LOL

So about 15,000 children are starving or have died because the state failed
to get them their money that they collected on their behalf? This is so
heart breaking! LOLOLOL
