Default Nipple Tweaking

I'm not sure if this is a common thing or if my child is simply strange. My
20 month old has recently taken to fondling my nipples. When nursing on one
side he'll play with the free nipple, pinching and roling it between his
fingers. Lately, after done nursing before bed, he'll roll over to his side
of the bed and rest a hand on my bare breast. If I move it, he sits up and
clearly says, "Stop it, Mommy." Anyone else with a nipple fixated child?
Is this signicant of anything beyond him finding comfort at the breast?

Hi Luci,

Very normal. I absolutely forbid any nipple twiddling so that never was

an
issue but Luke has been weaned for some time now and he is still a little
fixated with my breasts.

My son was only breastfed for three months and now I am pregnant (he's now
2) and have been trying to explain breastfeeding to him, he is fascinated
with my nipples. I didn't worry about it until he yanked my top up at a
coffee group once to show everyone Mummy's "boobies". Now I say a firm but
kind no and he gets the idea!

Twiddling. It's very, very normal. Also very, very irritating. I don't like
it and don't consider it good nursing manners, so I've never let my son
(he's 26 months) do it; he still tries, though.

This is completely normal and very common. If you can search the archives
of this group you'll see there have been many many posts about it. My DD
does it and it used to drive me bananas but I have now got used to it (she's
19 months and has done it for a long time). I did read something somewhere
(I forget where) that they do it because it makes the milk flow faster (I
guess due to the double nipple stimulation) and I read something somewhere
else (though this is harder to buy) that it sweetens the milk. When it
annoys me too much, I distract her hands by stroking them, or moving them,
though sometimes she just does it anyway. Since we live in hot AZ, I often
walk around the house topless and she therefore has access to the "goods"
pretty much whenever, so even when she's not nursing, sometimes she'll just
twiddle. I find it kinda cute at times!

Yes, my baby is definetly a nipple fixated child. SOmetimes it really
drives me crazy, but I am getting used to it sloooooowly! There is
only one thing that will destract her, and it's the ferret's collar,
but even that doesn't work all of the time! If I try to remove her
hand while she is trying to doze off, BAM, she is up like lightning.
Why can't she rub my face like she does to her dad...
