Default Huggies diapers ..

These are horrible. I just want to vent. (I know I should be using
cloth).....but anyway we have been trying to find the disposable diapers
that work best for us and have tried Pampers Baby Dry and Swaddlers, Huggies
ultratrim, etc etc etc....

The only ones that have been terrible are the Huggies-- Rachel can have a
wet diaper and it immediately runs out to her clothing- I found out when I
changed her and grabbed a Huggies, and 15 minutes later in the new diaper,
her clothes and the bed were wet. I thought it must have loosened up etc,
abut this has happened 2 more times until I got it through my thick head not
to use Huggies. I mentioned this to a neighbor who works at a daycare, and
she said not one of the (many) parents use Huggies, that Huggies are the
worst diaper. The parents provide the diapers for their own kids in the
daycare and there are all kind of store brands, Luvs, Pampers...but not one
single parent uses Huggies. This is news to me-- I thought Huggies were
supposedly good! I had no idea they had a reputation so to speak, but the
daycare worker said the same as me- they leak like crazy. ?????

I don't know that I have found the perfect diaper but none of the oens I
have tried leak like the Huggies do, ever....even the Wal-Mart brand (Little
Ones) in the yellow bag, these are even much better than the Huggies...even
the hospital wouldn't use Huggies. ?? I thought some people here swore by
Huggies, is this odd to have so many people have problems with them? Has the
quality declined?

Oh well- no more Huggies for Rachel (who, btw, is a little peanut....she's a
lean baby, not chubby, I don't know if that makes a difference?)...anyone
need any Huggies Newborns?

Every baby has different diapering needs Its not so much that Huggies
are "horrible," IMO, but they're not suited for skinny babies like the kind
I tend to give birth to. If its any consolation, all of my children have
done best in different brands of diapers. Right now we only use Luvs and
cloth on my youngest.. I'm sure the next one will need something different.
And you might find that Huggies may work when Rachel gets bigger or to a
different diapering stage.

All babies are different. I always buy the cheapest on the shelf
(generally - one kind really smell bad and another is to short waisted so I
don't get them, can't even remember which ones?!). FWIW all diapers leaked
on my newborns. I think they are hard to diaper. You'll probably have
better luck once she is a little older and bigger.

Ah, a good old diaper debate
Huggies Ultratrim are my favorite. They are the only ones that didn't leak
for my son, and they work great on my daughter so I'm leaving 'em alone!
Pampers smelled weird and leaked like the dickens with Jacob. The
"cloth-like" disposables Target was selling at the time also leaked. Count
me a satisfied Huggies Ultratrim user!

This is one that puzzled me for a long time. So many people here and
elsewhere complained about the smell of Pampers, but the ones we
were given to use in hospital, and the free samples we picked up in
various places, smelled just fine to me. When we were on holiday in
March I encountered an American Pampers nappy. Aha! There is a
definite difference! :-)

We don't like Huggies, apart from the disp swim pants which are
excellent. When the reusable swim nappies are in the laundry we
definitely like those as an alternative. The Pampers we used were
ok, but not worth the 20% extra on the price. We use supermarket
own-brands and they're just fine. We've had two leaky wet nappies in
ten months, and one of those was a reusable that had been inexpertly
put together (by me!). We had a few more blow-out dirty ones, early
on, but I don't think there's a nappy out there that can cope with
those 100%.

I think it depends on the baby. I tried them all and huggies ultratrim
worked the best for me.

After putting on the diaper are you running your finger around the leg
opening and drawing out the inner gasket a bit? I find that stops leaks.

With the twins, I use 3 different types of diapers. Up to just recently
they both wore a store brand (Teddy's Choice) during the day and a
regular Pampers at night. Now, Joshua is still wearing that combination
but Katerina is in Huggies Ultratrim completely because of her tummy.
Huggies tabs stretch so they fit her better. The other ones sag after a
few minutes and where the tabs fold start to rub against the top of her
thigh. One thing I do not like about Huggies (other than their
commercials) is that the gaskets split very easily.

Isabella will wear anything, day or night.

Jill,
We use Huggies, and have not had any problems with them. Taylor has always
been a round little bean -- in the 75% for height and weight, so that might
have something to do with it. She was 8lbs 8oz at birth, and 11lbs by 2-4
weeks, so well above little Miss Rachel. We've also ALWAYS bumped her up to
the next size pretty early. In the beginning, we alternated Huggies and
Pampers, and always seem to go back to Huggies.

I think it's definitely a YMMV issue, and depends greatly on the size and
shape of your little one.

We use huggies ultratrim. This only happens to Logan when the diaper is
getting too small for him ( and I need to go up a size ) or he has peed
several times in one diaper (or an astonishing amount). Since I try to
change and check him very often the 2nd reason almost never occurs
(sometimes after a long nap in which I've napped too). I don't figure
those reasons are the diaper's fault.

A tip with the ultratrim is that the blue guards are supposed to be up
to hug the baby, but many times they are stuck to the diaper. So I make
it a habit of doing a blue guard check every time I open a new diaper.

Oh well- no more Huggies for Rachel (who, btw, is a little peanut....she's a

Logan is very chubby!

BTW we used pampers for his newborn size and he peed outside the top in
the back/side almost every single pee for a while. They were on the
verge of way too small for him but he still had his umbilical cord
remnant left over and we were waiting for it to fall off before we moved
on to the next size (because the newborn size had cutouts).

I wouldn't call Huggies horrible, but I like the Kroger store-brand
diapers a lot better.
