Thumb sucking... help help...!!

dd suck her thumb since she was 3 mos old. Now she is 10 mos, still using
sucking thumb to sooth herself into the dreamland. However, I found that is
a problem now cuz she has 4 teeth and some how she bites herself badly and
make a very deep cut on her thumb. Well she never complain about that, but
I am worried it might get infected if I don't treat it properly. However, I
don't know how should I deal with that cuz I don't think I should put any
iodine or any sterilizer on the wound since she sucks on it every time she
goes to sleep. So can anyone give me some advice, please. Thank you...

I'm sure there are treatments you could use that would be perfectly safe to
ingest. Ask the pharmacist what would be okay. Even on a non-thumb-sucking kid,
I wouldn't put anything on their hand that I wouldn't want in their mouths.
