I agree that kids can have too many toys and rotating them
makes sense.

Btw, another possible birthday present depending on
the child's interests - a *real* train trip to a park is a good
one if you have a train around like we do in Chicago. The
commuter trains here are fun and there are parks we can
walk to when we get off the trains.

Y'know. I've been trying to think of a destination close enough to a
Metra station to easily walk to, without going all the way downtown.
I never thought of parks! Are there any in particular you'd suggest?
I'd be on one of the ones going straight north, depending on where I
start.

Go to Winnetka and walk east and stop at the Depot Restaurant
on the way home and get some ice cream and watch the trains
that run around the top

The Depot

Winnetka, IL 60093-2524
Phone: (847) 446-1115

If you look up the map to The Depot, the parks
are also on the map in green.

# Commons*
Elm St. to Oak St., Maple St. to Cedar St.

Dwyer Park
Elm St. to Oak St., Birch St. to Dwyer Ct.

I think it's Commons that is closest to the RR station.
If you walk west and cross Green Bay Road, there is
another park that is very nice not too far west as well,
though I don't know the exact address or the name it
goes by.

You can also walk down the Greenbay trail and watch
the trains or bike that depending on where you are
coming from.

Thanks! That sounds perfect!
