Default Finding a Doula

Hi All,

Well, I have passed the 12 week mark and I'm wondering if it is too early to
start looking for a doula.

I am in a bit of a unique situation, as I will be moving to a different
state in June, so I won't have a chance to meet or interview anyone in
person until then (delivering in late September). I just don't want to
arrive in June and find that everyone's calendars are full.

Also, is there a significant difference in any of the different
organizations that certify doulas (DONA, CAPPA, etc)?

Thanks,
Jodi

I don't know anything about the different organisations in the US, but I
don't think it's at all unreasonable to start contacting them, some you may
be able to elimated by a few email questions or a phone call, others may
already be booked up, hopefully you'll be left with a short list you can
interview in June and confirm the booking.

I had a postnatal doula (decided against a doula for birth as I had a
history of precipitate labour), I did most of the selection via email from
another country, I was pretty sure which one I wanted and did an interview
when we got back to confirm.

Anne
