Bill for Banning Amalgam Reintroduced
A bill for banning amalgam dental fillings has been (re)introduced to the
house by Congresswoman Diane Watson. The bill is HR 4011.
Congresswoman Watson's staff has encouraged us to get behind the bill and
has asked the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology to have
its members contact their local representatives.

We also strongly encourage the public to also do so. Please let them hear
your voice!

Senators Frist M.D. and Hastert were instumental in the recent passage
of a bill preventing people from suing the manufacturers of vaccines
preserved with mercury .

Strange, there are thousands of people doing just that in the omnibus
claim.

Many scientists believe there is a causal
link between mercury in vaccines and childhood autism

Many REAL scientist, not anti-vac liars, know that there is no link.

and it seems to
me that if there was no basis for such a claim legislators would'nt
bother passing such a bill.

Do you get your medical knowledge from politicians and your political
knowledge from doctors?

Senators Hastert and Frist are the largest
recipients of contributions from drug companies in the senate.
Many (who have been mercury poisoned by mercury amalgams) have done just
that!

None of them. That's what "no real scientists" means.

Real scientists are those who recognised and accept the methods,
procedures and philosophies of science. The ones who like to see
evidence, replication, ...

Feel free to produce your silly list of words that you think are not
important.

because there is a large

What evidence?

Here's the latest.

Pervasive Developmental Disorders in Montreal, Quebec, Canada:
Prevalence and Links With Immunizations

METHODS. We surveyed 27749 children born from 1987 to 1998 attending
55 schools from the largest Anglophone school board. Children with
pervasive developmental disorders were identified by a special needs
team. The cumulative exposure by age 2 years to thimerosal was
calculated for 1987–1998 birth cohorts. Ethylmercury exposure ranged
from medium (100–125 µg) from 1987 to 1991 to high (200–225 µg) from
1992 to 1995 to nil from 1996 onwards when thimerosal was entirely
discontinued. Measles-mumps-rubella coverage for each birth cohort was
estimated through surveys of vaccination rates. The immunization
schedule included a measles-mumps-rubella single dose at 12 months of
age up to 1995, and a second measles-mumps-rubella dose at 18 months
of age was added on after 1996.

CONCLUSIONS. The prevalence of pervasive developmental disorder in
Montreal was high, increasing in recent birth cohorts as found in most
countries. Factors accounting for the increase include a broadening of
diagnostic concepts and criteria, increased awareness and, therefore,
better identification of children with pervasive developmental
disorders in communities and epidemiologic surveys, and improved
access to services. The findings ruled out an association between
pervasive developmental disorder and either high levels of
ethylmercury exposure comparable with those experienced in the United
States in the 1990s or 1- or 2-dose measles-mumps-rubella
vaccinations.

http://pediatrics.aappublications.or...ull/118/1/e139

Feel free to attack this study on the usual bases used by
anti-vaccination liars - the authors are paid to say this, Canadian
children are genetically different to other children, 27749 children
is too small a sample, ...

There are, however,
some pretend scientists who like to say so because it helps them to
sell stuff and make money giving speeches.

Thank you again, Jan, for reminding people of my comprehensive
demolition of Rod's pathetic attempt to smear ACAHF.

There is another lie. Rod's title was:

The Australian Council Against Health Fraud- Mr Peter Bowditch

To all concerned:

Under another heading I stated that I would post my comments in reply to
Peter Bowditch suggesting that I look up the ACAHF site to find out for
myself what it was all about rather than he directly answer me.

OK that is fair enough and here are my findings.

Firstly, the viewer is targeted with "For a Limited time only"

"Anyone applying for membership will receive a complimentary copy of The
Great Sceptic 2, plus much more. Mr Bowditch is the Vice President of The
Australian Sceptics. NSW."

Secondly, "DVD for Sale". Ratbags.com provides two talks by Peter Bowditch
Quote "thanks to our good friends at Gebesse Computer Consultants" (Company
owned and managed by Peter Bowditch.)
The DVD only costs A$28 plus postage of $11.

Now the site goes on (left hand) with the following headings:

1."About the Australian Council Against Health Fraud." Apart from some
writings there is a registered Incorporation in New South Wales and a yet to
be confirmed ABN (Australian Business Number)
2. "Contact Information:" No physical business address is stated.
3. "Membership:" It costs only A$121 or US $80. You can use paypal but that
must be in US$.
4. "Sponsoring ACAHF:" Guess who the sponsor is? Gebesse Computer Systems.
That's Peter Bowditch.
5. Donations: Pay Pal is US $, Visa and cheques readily accepted
6. "Media Releases." One only dated 25th October 2003.
7. "Shareholders and Investments:" None.

On the right side of the site there are a lot of things coming soon (since
October 2003)

Now what is of interest is that this site hosts advertising and I read the
following ads by Gooooogle.

Alternative Medicine: This add was from the Australian Institute of Holistic
Medicine and it is promoting HOMEOPATHIC MEDICINE.

The Second Add is also interesting: It is by Mark Phillips advertising his
ACUPUNCTURE Services.

Look call me DAFT, but here is a site run by Peter Bowditch, who is well
known for his views against anything alternative, yet it HOUSES ADDS FOR
ALTERNATIVES.

That simply means that Peter Bowditch is having it both ways by receiving
advertising funds from alternative institutes and practitioners whilst
SELLING, requesting SUBSCRIPTIONS and DONATIONS whilst all the time
denigrating the Alternative treatments and professions.

I note that some of the task forces by ACAHF are Homeopathy, Chiropractic,
"Energy Medicine",Vaccination, Supplements, Veterinary Quackery and Others.

Yet there is no mention of any activity by ACAHF for the past three years in
any of these Taskforces.
I suspect for one good reason only. They are not an authority to deal with
same.

So is this site a Quackery site ?

http://www.acahf.org.au

Cheers, Rod

Care to document that?
I have lots of fractured teeth. None of my teeth without fillings are
fractured.Almost everyone with amalgam has fractured teeth.

I have amalgam fillings and no fractured teeth.

By the way ,Igot well over 650 on the math SAT. I scored in the top one
% of the population.

Whoopee. I got an 800.

Of my 720 classmates, 91 got an 800. The lowest score was just under 700

If you took the SAT before 1995,less than one percent got 700 in math
.Less than one percent got a perfect 1600 so you are lying again.

Nobody mentioned a perfect 1600. Are you living in the same reality
as the rest of the readership?

ARe you? For reference the claimed average Math SAT scores of the
quackwatch team is now higher than that of the Freshman class of
MIT (on the old SAT) and way above the incoming class of Harvard.

Statistically, the distribution claimed could occur in a magnet type
school if everyone in the school was in the top 1% of the population.
But what relevance would that have to most schools where an 800 would
occur far less than 1 in 100 which would roughly correspond to 700,

I do not see anyone claiming scores, except for Jilly.

Aha! Now you get it.

Not the point.
