Default bored?

Caden has got into a habbit of not wanting to be put down and since he
doesnt sleep during the day he gets cranky if you do... its almost like he
is bored.

Could this be the case? if so would a swing help? he has a play gym but it
only seems to keep him quiet for a few minutes.

any other ideas?

TIA
Leanne

I have the same problem with Quinn. Only thing is he has to be held
during his waking hours or he cries nonstop. I've tried swings and
bouncers but nothing has worked for us.

If he is just bored than I'd think that a swing might help you out, if
not that then perhaps a bouncer?

Morgan doesn't like to be put down alone.

When she was younger (she's only 11 weeks old) she liked the Kick and Play
Bouncer with the vibration on. A few weeks later, suddenly she hated it.

I brought in the Aquarium Swing (swings both ways) and she loved it side to
side. Then, weeks later, she hated it.

I switched to front to back. Then, weeks later, she hated it.

So, I went back to the Kick and Play Bouncer and added the rack of music and
lights that came with it. That's where we are now.

She STILL doesn't like to play alone for long. Right now she is going
through a growth spurt which gives me little time for myself. She insists
on being held 24/7.

Morgan also has an Activity Gym which she is just now becoming interested
in. I'm considering an Exersaucer at this point.

To answer your question: Yes, a swing, IMHO, would help. I use it to also
put Morgan in AFTER she's done eating and is a bit sleepy. She easily falls
asleep after a minute or so of the music.

With my foster baby, I never really tried to put him down. Just tucked him
in the sling and went on about my day. Eventually he got bored with being
"up" and started asking to be down. I find that if you "baby" a baby as much
as possible, they start begging to be independant. Since obviously I can't
stop my life to stare at a bored baby all day, I figure that a sling will
keep them close, secure and give them an ever-changing environment as I move
through my life. My foster baby slept in 20 minute naps on my body through
the day, but then slept pretty much straight through, with only brief food
wakings once or twice a night by the time he was 3 months.

Of course, with bf, dd was even easier--I stopped noticing her night waking
pattern at 2 months. I sat more with her, but that was because I didn't have
a good sling.

Sarah loved her swing. Give it a try. It may take a couple of tries
before your daughter decides if she likes it, but if she does... it was a
lifesaver for me.

Get a sling! DS spent a *lot* of time in a sling, and still spends a
lot of time in a hiking backpack. The sling was an absolute necessity
if I wanted to pee. We used it a *lot* for the first 8 months or so,
and then switched to the backpack because it was easier on my knees.
