Default How can his feet grow so fast?

Caleb played soccer last fall and even though soccer cleats aren't
required at his level, we thought we'd buy some. However, we kept
forgetting to get them and he went through his first game just wearing
regular shoes. The day before his second game, DH just bought a pair
without Caleb and guessed on the size. They were too big, so he wore
regular shoes again. Since he only had 3 games left at that point, we
decided to not replace them, but just use them this spring. Well, he
tried them on this morning and they are too SMALL! I can't believe he
grew out of them without even wearing them. My only consolation is I
have two other boys that hopefully will get use out of them later.

Dd's gone up 1.5 (UK) sizes in 3 months. Hopefully she won't grow for a
while now.

What level? Is he 4 years old? 14? Some hints, please.

When kids enter puberty, their feet and hands grow fast first, then their
forearms and lower legs, then their thighs and upper arms, then their
trunks. So they grow sort of from outside in. That is probably going on with
your son.

Mary responds - this is so true!! Kids are just like large breed
puppies who grow these enormous feet first, and then the rest of them
catches up over time.

My oldest kid is just turned 13, and he has been wearing US size 11
men's shoes for close to a year. When he first started wearing this
size he was only 5' 3". It was crazy - he looked like the letter "L" -
his feet looked just huge relative to the rest of him, and yes, they
just grew like crazy for a while. They now seem to have pretty much
stopped, which is a good thing, since neither my husband OR my father
had feet as big as my son's, and they were both over 6 feet.

For a while there it was just nuts, since he kept outgrowing shoes,
sneakers, slippers, sandals, ice skates, roller blades faster than I
could buy them (and of course, he never wore any of them out, so my
basement has a shelf of outgrown sports foot gear his brother may
eventually be able to wear).

He's now about my height - 5' 6", which pleases him no end, and I'm
sure the height growth is about to take off like a rocket. I'm sure
I'll be looking up at him shortly.

He's only 8 and I'm sure this is just the start of it. If it's this
bad now, I can't imagine how fast he'll grow once he hits puberty.
