Default Midwifes appointment 22 weeks

I just had to report on a fabulous appointment this week. I chose my
midwife based on talking to her on the phone, meeting her in person, and (I
thought) the recommendation of a few people. Turns out the people who I
thought recommended her said she was a nice person, but they wouldn't
recommend her as a midwife. And as I am due near Christmas, I sort of
grabbed the first person who said she was available. Not the best reasons
for choice. So today I was very honest with her, and voiced my doubts - and
I have none now. She just seemed fabulous, and had very honest answers to
my questions. I am planning a home birth, and she seems so relaxed about it
all that it made me feel heaps better. I told her what I thought I would
require from her during the birth, and she said we would work on that when
we started discussing the birth plan (I didn't feel she was putting it off -
I'm only 22 weeks!). So I am hugely relieved, and I signed on the dotted
line to have her as my LMC. I really feel like I can do this now.

Dont you love those veiled insult/ recomendations Though i have said that
a Dr. we used to see was better as a party guest then a dr Anyway i am
glad that in the end you seem to be happy with your choice!

Glad to hear you found a midwife you really like and are comfortable
with. It must be a huge relief. Congrats!

My thinking exactly. And she will do things I want - all my questions were
answered with 'if that's what you want to do, that's what we'll do'. Within
reason of course. But I feel really positive, and not I am turning those
positive thoughts in to thinking of a 3 hour labour!!
