Thank you Dan, in it I try to give rational good reasons for spankings and hope
other appreciate this too. I used spankings as a parent, and found them very
useful and proper with my children, some more than others, but in the book I
try to cover the subject with care in the novel.

hugs

Hitting and hurting as a love expression between consenting adults belongs on
another newsgroup.

Hitting and hurting children in the name of discipline is an expression of
desperation from parents who do not understand other disciplinary strategies
and who care more about immediate convenience than positive outcomes for their
children.

Then please cite one study in which the non-cp alternatives has stood the
same statistical scrutiny. Straus & Mouradian (1998) found that the
correlation between non-cp alternatives and anti-social behavior is even
stronger.

I agree. Spanking the buttocks is not "hitting" in the sense of attacking a
child. It is a form of discipine and I believe has no relationship to
"hitting" as most of us mean the word.

The book is about childhood discipline. It covers Sharon's life from 0 to about
19, including mostly school spankings and some at home.

thanks

Sister Sharon? A nun? enemas? Childhood discipline?

Sharon, it's odd to see you refer to Sharon's life in the
second person. Are there two Sharons or are you alliterating
to the person you once were vs now are?

But the funniest part is watching LaVonne's knee jerk.

I am absolutely not defending fetishist spanking or advertising
related to it here, but watching LaVonne rush quickly to disconnect
the two made me wonder some more about connections that might
actually bear discussion related psychology and spanking.

1. With fetishists, do the people doing the spanking actually
get a thrill out of it or is the recipient the one that gets a
thrill or both? I don't think parents who spank get any sort
of thrill out of it, although anti-spanking zealots might
pretend so.

2. How could the anti-spankers say that fetishist spanking
is not abuse, but parental discipline spanking is? Does
CONSENT really make spanking not abuse?

There is a problem with that logic since CONSENT
would make some kinds of violent acts not abuse.

While LACK of consent gets certain non-violent
sexual acts a LABEL of violent and abusive.

Do anti-spankers consider fetishist spanking to be abuse?

The book has as a theme accepting ourselves and explaines how fetishes about
enemas or spankings can develop, particuarily in our world where real knowledge
about sex is denied until long after the formative attitudes about sex are
complete. (I am not advocating involving early teens in direct sex, but
unfortunately to not do that leaves them to form their ideas about sex in the
private recesses of their minds) This is the reason fantasys exist.

However, to truly live and love we must accept ourselves and our fantasys as
they are. Where these do no harm, as in enemas, or where they can do harm, but
be acceptable and useful, as in spankings it is best to accept ourselves and
know God loves us as we are. I think the only fantasys that should be controled
are those that can or do hurt others.
There is certainly an arguement in favor of this in the case of spanking.

In the book, When The Jonquils Bloom Again, Sharon (My name and the main
character in the book, a novel) the story is about a young lady who grows up
and develops fantasys that are of no harm to anyone, in fact her health is
maintained through the use of enemas. It is about her accepting herself, and
God's love as she is.

I hope you enjoy. Part of the key to the book as you know, is that as a
contract to view it, the reader agrees to do something good for the world or at
least someone else.

As per this board, this book has a lot to do with spanking children, why, why
it works, and why it should and shouldn't be used.

hugs

Sharon
