Low Femur Lenght/BPD ratio
Hi All,
I am 22 weeks pregnant mom. I have done my U/S and as results, I got everything normal expect that the LF/BPD was juged low (67%). The average is 71-83 %. My OB/Gyn asked me to repeat the U/S in 2 weeks. What does that mean? Is my baby in high risk? Has anyone experienced that before? I am very worried and I really need help..... Thanks |

Low Femur Lenght/BPD ratio
Short femur is one of the so-called "soft sign" markers. This is a
group of findings that are often normal, but are slightly more common in babies with chromosome abnormalities like Down syndrome. If you only have one "soft sign," the increased risk is vanishingly small - very unlikely to actually be an abnormal baby. Only when multiple "soft signs" are present does the risk increase significantly. The FL/BPD ratio is just one way of deciding whether the femur is short or not. Since this is the only "soft sign" that was seen in your scan, it probably means nothing. |
