Default How did you start solids?


I saw that the LLL suggests starting meats early for the iron. It sounds
logical, but it just feels wierd to go straight to meat. I don't know why
though. I think we're going to try to add meat in early.


Well, it's definitely not the common way of doing it. I did it that way
because that's what Adelle Davis said to do in "Let's Have Healthy Children,"
which was pretty much my kid-rearing/pregnancy bible. It does make sense,
though--iron is pretty much the only thing a bf six-month-old is likely to need
right away. And I know that starting with fruits first can sometimes lead to a
preference for sweet tastes.
