High White Blood Cell Count?
I'm a nervous wreck. I'm 33 weeks and a month ago I had a routine CBC
test. After the test, the doctor's office called to say I had a high white blood cell count and they were going to re-do the test at my next visit. Well, my next visit was yesterday and I just found out today that the count is still high (13,300). The doctor said it sometimes gets elevated during pregnancy and said not to worry about Leukemia or anything like that -- well, I wasn't worried until she mentioned that word, hell I didn't even know anything about it! I was just wondering if anyone had ever heard of this during pregnancy and if it returned to normal after pregnancy? My doc said she is just going to watch it, but in the meantime, I'm concerned I may be seriously sick with something and/or may pass that on to my baby. If anyone has any experience or thoughts on this, I'd love some input! Thanks! Michelle |

High White Blood Cell Count?
wrote in message s.com... It just means your body is fighting some sort of infection.. could be anything from a bladder infection to an ear infection. Could be absolutely anything. I had elevated WBCs at about 15 weeks and no cause was ever found. Could be somethign as innocuous as a slightly infected spot or cut. If you Dr isn't worried I wouldn't either. Judy |

With leukemia, WBC is usually VERY elevated, more like 50,000!!!! 13,000 is nothing. A little high, but no biggie. Your body may be fighting off a minor bug or something. Seriously, don't worry about it! Stresses on the body can elevate WBC, and pregnancy can certainly be a stress. laurie mommy to Jessica, 27 months and Christopher, 13 weeks *This email address is now valid* |
