Psych Drug Shocker: Antidepressant Drugs Work No Better than Placebo;
Big Pharma Hoax Finally Exposed
Tuesday, February 26, 2008 by: Mike Adams | Key concepts: placebo,
depression and antidepressants

NaturalNews) The following is a groundbreaking report from the
independent, honest medical journal PLoS Medicine (which accepts no
advertising money from Big Pharma). The full study, with sources and
attributions, can be found at http://medicine.plosjournals.org/perlse...

This study is sending shockwaves through the medical community. It
finally reveals the Big Pharma hoax behind antidepressant drugs.
Through fraudulent science and clever marketing, drug companies have
managed to take a drug that works no better than placebo and turn it
into a multi-billion dollar scam. But the truth is finally out: Taking
Prozac is no more effective than taking a sugar pill! Hundreds of
millions of consumers have been fooled by the quack science supporting
modern pharmaceutical medicine. Read the study details
below............"........

http://www.naturalnews.com/022723.html

So is this the biggest quackery of all

Thanks Vince

Mike Adams...has replaced Whale.to as the webs wackiest!

http://scienceblogs.com/insolence/20...d_you_want.php

"The reason I have to hand it to Mike Adams is because no one--and I
mean no one--can deliver the stupid as well as he can, and when he
can't he finds others who can. PalMD might like to beat up on Dr.
Joseph Mercola (who, make no mistake, publishes his share of dubious
medical advice), but in comparison to Mike Adams' NaturalNews.com, Dr.
Mercola's website, as quacky as it may be at times, seems like an
oasis of sanity. Heck, even the über-quack website of über-quack
websites, Whale.to, has nothing on Adams other than sheer quantity and
longevity when it comes to woo. Indeed, when it comes to bringing the
crazy to the Interwebs, Adams is just that talented and has an eye for
"talent" like his."

According to Irving Kirsch of the University of Hull, England, "There is
little evidence to support the prescription of antidepressant medication
to any but the most severely depressed patients, unless alternative
treatments with fewer side effects have failed to provide benefit."

Ban the damn anti-depressants. Back to talk therapy. They are harmful in
that they cause Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis. No different than
marijuana and all stimulants side effects. We are a society in danger of
half the population being sick from stimulant's capacity to transfer harm to
a second or third person by a mind/body connection whether the two or more
persons are in the same room or miles apart.
Look in the nursing homes. Many patients die needlessly of crohns
unrecognized by the home physician. Everything is attributed to a natural
progression of illness. They are allright for the person using them, but
the fallback is the danger of killing others. They are not meant to be.
All the nursing homes have blood on their hands. Ditto the physicians and
pharms.

Surely, that's going overboard.

Doctors are especially attentive to the side effects of antidepressants.
Finding the right one often requires a lot of time, patience, testing,
and attention to detail. Not everybody is prone to Crohn's Disease and
ulcerative colitis! The article explicitly states that alternative
treatments (including "talk therapy") should be tried first, and that
these medications are appropriate only for severe cases of depression.

Also, antidepressants are not stimulants, nor is marijuana.

The alarm you raise is evidently against malpractice, and I agree with
your concern about that. But you evidently aren't a physician, and you
don't have to consider how best to treat patients who present with
serious, refractory depression. There is no reason at all to suspect
that depression is contagious (!), but there are quite cogent reasons to
attempt to treat it as efficaciously as possible according to practices
generally taught in continuing education courses. To do otherwise would
simply be a different kind of malpractice.
