It's actually more screwed up than that. The original study didn't

SOME gun by some person.

So, they apparently not only believed that the presence of a gun in
the home was dangerous, but that it actually attracted killers to you.

Magical thinking at its worst.

Another good leftie myth is that you're more likely to be murdered by
an acquaintance than not. This study defined the relationship between
a prositute and her john as being an "acquaintance." Likewise, a drug
dealer and his customer are also classified as "acquaintances."

These are simplifications and distortions of the CDC epidemiological
analyses. The authors backed away from the "43 times" in subsequent
papers. But more importantly "someone known to the family" is a mere
acquaintance, far more likely to be your drug-dealing rival than the
meter reader or little Billy's mother.

If I remember correctly, it was even worse than that. As long as a gun was
present ANYWHERE then it was counted, even if it were a gun in the upstairs
closet that wasn't even involved in or connected with the homicide that
occurred.

Isn't that what Alex Jason says about burglars and gun owners, that
burglars are afraid of home owners with guns to the extent that they
avoid breaking into houses if they think the people living there have
guns? The prophylactic and purely imaginary DGU?

Alex Jason seems to be the source of much gunloon ideology, even
though he makes pretty good sense most of the time and you idgits
rarely do.

They also counted it when you got murdered in (say) Las Vegas and you kept a
shotgun in your closet back in Schenectady.
