Odd places to nurse a toddler!
I've nursed in a few department stores whilst trying to get the christmas
shopping done - oh and the Oasis food Hall in the middle of Meadowhall Shopping Centre That was quite comfy - I need to sit down to nurse too. "Anne Rogers" wrote in message ... I have done but I feel very exposed if I'm tandem nursing the two of them. I guess it depends on how public you call public, in front of friends and family, yes, more times than I can count and if they don't like it they can always not look! Wish I could get the hang of nursing with a sling - just cant't get it to work (just for one at a time I mean). I found that tricky until ds had some head support. I can't remember exactly when we figured it out, but I know I was happy nursing in the sling when we were on our holidays, ds was 3.5 months then. I don't really consider friends and family public, particularly not if they have come to my house. I was wondering about if you had done in a cafe or anywhere. I frequently nurse in church. When he was feeding often any trip out anywhere meant I had to sit down to NIP. |

Today we went into Manchester and YoungBloke got v hot and bothered in Waterstones so we went to the coffee bar there and while Bloke and I had hot choc and muffins, YB had a good long BF. I've also BFed in a variety of motorway service stations, the GP's surgery, the dentist's waiting room, physio clinic, hearing clinic, Bloke's office, my boss's office, and once in Mothercare's "Mummys room". I'm quite confident about NIP now, though I do try to be discreet. -- Linz YB: 12 weeks, around 13lbs |

I haven't been to meadow hall for a long time, but as my sister has recently moved to the centre of sheffield I expect I will soon, apparently I have to park at meadow hall and get the tram to visit her. |

Odd places to nurse a toddler!
Richard wrote: No place should be weird (except places no one should eat, like restrooms). Right on! I don't think the magician even had a clue. That's because breastfeeding is magic. THis made me giggle. It's so nice to come here and read positive things about breastfeeding, after the negative "are you still nursing? when are you going to stop?" questions we get IRL! (My twins are 13 month-old avid nursers and we enjoy our nursing relationship(s), so we're just not interested yet. I'll let them or my health be our guide, hopefully not for a whil longer!) I'm wracking my brain to think of an "odd" place I've nursed, and I can't think of one, relaly. (I've had to pump sittong in the floot washrooms in pitch black, in the back seat of a van in the middle of the day in a residential street, and in the grungy basement of a temporary office, but I haven't nursed there.) Thanks for bringing a smile to my face. BF is magical, indeed :-) -B |

Larry McMahan wrote: Now this is classic. I can only say that this is the RIGHT way to do a nativity scene!!! :-) My girls were tiny 3 week olds at their first Christmas, and we were joking about offering them up as Baby Jesus and Jesus' understudy. I could have been Mary and as for breastfeeding during the navity scene, maybe that's why "no crying he makes"? g (Theyw ere nursing around the lcock then so it was pretty much guaranteed that atleast one baby would hvae nursed during the pagent. We're not actually church goers, so we didn't pursue this but it was a thought.... --Barbara Larry |

Odd places to nurse a toddler!
Leslie wrote: After four babies I can hardly think of anywhere I haven't nursed. I've nursed in many museums, at several funerals, at political events, while chairing meetings, at my kids' school, at football games, at concerts and plays, at banquets surrounded by strangers, just about anywhere I've happened to be, basically. This reminded me - I nursed thought most of our election plnaning meetings, and I was usually the only woman present. (DH and I were the only regular attendees under the age of 50; the rest of the committee was mostly older white men, mostly teachers and professors g). AS Dh puts it, our girls' usual contributiosn were mroal support and looking cute, but they occaisonally gave editorial comments by way of eating the agenda or minutes :-) I also nursed through various more public political meetings but didn't bring the girls to my own public debates and community meetings. I enjoy debating but may have found nursing while debating a handicap, (nto to mention a little distracting for all involved!). --Barbara |
