mental health worker in this newsgroup is trying to screw with your head
the dirty secret is mental cases get into psychology to figure out why
they're so ****ed up...........then some of them then think they're cured enough to straighten out everyone else's problems...........what's wrong with you becomes more important than how to help you...........the best advice is to talk to a trusted friend..............the advantage is they will listen without trying to analyze what's wrong with YOU and label you.............bureaucracies try to make you helpless...........you aren't smart enough to get an education or solve your own problems...........convincing you of that fact justifies their otherwise worthless existence............. |

ooooooooooooh, now this is precious..............what do you suppose my
"personal problems" might be...............your proof is ___________.................is english a first language with you..............anyone who would write, "often individuals with emotional problems don't have a 'trusted friend' due to the issues many emotional problems create," is better in talking in circles than in lucidity.............oh, and this is the topic of this newsgroup...........a small group of imbecilic nitwits has adopted an air of superiority the befits a little clique in a small town high school..............you don't like those who think differently than you...........they pose a threat.............in your mind, they must be done away with even if they are the majority because you have to be right..........you always have to be right............so, forgive my asking such a self-important person as yourself, but just where is it that i have said parents must spank their children............. |

whenever you get someone saying things like, "i've worked in prisons
and mental health settings"............"the mental health treatment facility were i worked many years ago"............"i had to figure out ways to quite myself and gentle my expressions and body language to do mental health work. someone with my background tends to be too macho appearing"...........you are dealing with someone who has been paid to find out what is wrong with whoever comes through the door............they don't listen...........they label.............the problem is always on the other side of the table.............that really is the story of this newsgroup..............the problem is always with whomever shows up to post a different point of view..............the fact remains that most people who become heavily involved with psychology do so because they have had problems..............while there is nothing wrong with that, it helps to know where these individuals are coming from before they suck you into their mind games........... |

Now there is an educated opinion. not.
I am a mental health worker by profession, and I'm no more ****ed up than the average citizen. I have no wish to "save" children, straighten out other people's problems, or analyze anyone. I allow them to deal with their own issues and give them the tools to do a better job of dealing with those problems. They choose to deal with them or not, and them they can deal with the consequences of their decision. Either way its not my problem, I am doing my job by giving them the tools necessary to deal with things, what they do or dont do with those tools is up to them. Its called Personal Responsibility, not something one finds very often anymore. Ron |

The corner was turned many decades ago on the "analysis couch" approach to exactly what you point out. As early as 1980 I was giving the same information to clients..."whatever has happened to you is not an excuse to stay in helplessness, and the way out is to work, and to take personal responsibility for your work on the problems." And this was with adolescents from 11 to 17. What we are addressing in the newsgroup is often those that do not get the message of personal responsibility and never have, apparently. They will say or do anything without understanding their personal responsibility for their views, blaming everyone else for 'the problem.' Never acting, as you and I and others have, but happy to whine, sidewalk superintendents with the vote...which I doubt they have even bothered to exercise. Ronald Van Dyne, Nebraska Foster contractor is a Mental Health worker?
The same computer game player with the military and Police background? Kane also claimed to have worked in mental health but he posted profanity for over a YEAR in alt.support.child-protective-services Should a person with that sort of impulse control be advising others about their mental ecology? Got a Nebraska state license, Ron? |

I never claimed you said "parents must spank their children." Please
get a dictionary and read the definition of "must." You support the practice of spanking children if parents so choose to do so. Very, very different statements, Maggie. You've had a lot of mental health problems, and run-ins with
psychologists, I suspect. People who have issues such as these and have received no help are the ones to express the opinions you have expressed below. Funny thing is, no one posting on this ng is a licensed psychologist (at least to my knowledge). So why the continual need to bring up psychologists, unless it is stemming from your own personal issues.
