Am I doing the right thing (plugged duct)?
Thanks for all the suggestions! :-)
I seem to be escaping the plugged ducts, largely due to Isabella's constant nursing yesterday. I think she is hitting her 6-week growth spurt one week early. LOL! :-D You should have seen my living room yesterday! The twins had all their toys out because I was nursing and nursing and nursing....well, you get the idea. ;-) -- Brigitte aa #2145 http://www.babiesonline.com/babies/j/joshuaandkaterina/ http://www.villagephotos.com/pubbrow...elected=782084 "Readers are plentiful; thinkers are rare." ~ Harriet Martineau |

Am I doing the right thing (plugged duct)?
DeliciousTruffles wrote in message ...
Idiot me wore a too-tight bra for a full day and now my breasts are sore. I am suspecting a partially plugged ducts. I have been pumping every time I feel a bit full and also if Isabella hasn't nursed long enough to take away that soreness. But now my supply is increasing because of the added pumping. When I pump I massage the sore spots (right near the underarm). The spots are very specific (my whole breasts are not sore just there). I am so paranoid to avoid plugging these ducts and ending up with mastitis. Am I doing the right thing by pumping or am I making it worse by increasing the supply? Is this a "catch-22" situation? I know it's a little late now, but I'll just throw this out there (I missed the OP until now)... I have to admit, it never occurred to me to pump for plugged ducts. I did a lot of massaging, sometimes from a long ways up the duct, to where it seemed plugged. That always ended up working for me. Of course, ds was a marathon-nurser for the first several months, so there was always plenty of time to work the ducts! I suppose the pumping was timely for the growth spurt! ;-) Irene |
