Default Baby Name Poll :)

Don't you just love it when they rule out a name becasue its too (insert
ethnic origin here). I pointed out to DH, that between both heritage

lines,
this bub will be part Irish, German, Scottish, English, Cornish (my

GGfather
would *never* say he was "English") and Polish ... so his dismissiveness

of
names because they sound "too Scottish" (as is my fav boys name) is just
silly.
Amanda
(who likes the name Simone)

What cracks me up about my husband when he says "it sounds too...." is he
usually has the wrong background. He thinks Camille sounds too Hispanic.
Everyone else I know says it sounds French. Lol. The kids do have an Irish
last name (McG) so I can see why a certain first name that was very ethnic
but not Irish might sound weird. I personally like it though. I'm tired of
blah, bland, trendy names. I'd rather see a kid with a really good ethnic
name anyday - wherever it's from.

We should get Eric and Dylan together to name a kid. I'm sure *they* could
agree on something.

FWIW, the only Camille I know is a little girl whose parents are Columbian
(and she was born in Columbia). Her sister is named Paloma.

Well, I don't know if he's "right" or not, but there you go. Gosh darn
it...these guys are right *sometimes*!

Have you changed your mind about the girl's name since the last time you
posted about it? (I've decided if I have a fourth and it's a girl, I want
Rosalind. The more I roll that name around in my head, the better I like
it.)

He thinks Camille sounds

I'm Hispanic and I've never heard it used on another hispanic. A white or
italian lady yeah, hispanic no. You think that he might be mistaking it for
Carmen? Oh wait I take that back my daughter has a friend and her name is
Camille but she is half n half.

Nope, we've seen Camile (with one L) with Hispanic last names. To me
though, it's always been French (with 2 Ls) and always will be.

When did Italians stop counting as white? "DWEM" *always* includes
Italians, and taken out of constant sunshine most of 'em turn pretty
pasty, you know. My dad and my brother go slightly olive-green in the
winter, admittedly, but no one's yet accused them of being Martians.

(I've never met or heard of an Italian Camille, incidentally. It's a
French name.)
