Which Car?
We've got 20 month old twins and a new-born of 10 weeks. We need to buy a
new car that can have three baby seats across the back. Any advice? We've already decided against cars like the Zafira as the middle seat is too narrow and we'd have to therefore use the third row. This means we'd lose out on luggage space - very necessary when we plan a holiday. And finally, I'd need the car for work so I'll need something smart (but not overly expensive) Peter & Jennifer |

Which Car?
Hi Peter, I see you are in the uk, like me. The only way to find out if
the seats are going to fit in is to try them out. The VW Sharan has 2 kids seats built in at either side of the middle row. They are used from age 9 months. The middle row centre seat has the full 3 point seat belt. The Sharan is quite expensive, though. Have a look at the Ford Galaxy which is the same as the Sharan, but doesn't have so much extras, like the built in child seats and is cheaper. The Skoda Octavia "Yikes, not a Skoda!!" is a very refined car now. The diesel estate has the same engine as the VW Bora. Very economical. The boot is enormous. You also get climate control and lots of other extras. Not sure about whether there is enough room for 3 seats. It looked roomy to me. We are also looking for a new car and the more you look at, the harder it gets. VW have a new small MPV called the Touran. A bit like the Zaphira, but more upright seating. If you can get someone to look after your children for a bit, take your car seats and visit as many garages as you can and try the seats in. If your like us, you will come home bamboozled and arguing about about which car had what! Have a look at jamjar.com and also carhound.com. Great reduction can be had on new vehicles there. Hope this helps. Alison "Peter Brown" wrote in message ... We've got 20 month old twins and a new-born of 10 weeks. We need to buy a new car that can have three baby seats across the back. :-0 I've never heard of any of these cars!! Not even the Ford Galaxy. Are
these sedans, or minivans? I didn't realize that the UK had so many different kinds of cars than the US. Just finding this interesting. Gayle "James W. West" wrote in message ... Which Car?
I don't even know what a sedan is! I would imagine the cars I am talking
about are like a minivan, but I'm not sure what they are either! I don't think many of our cars are like US cars, because our fuel is so expensive (over 3x the price of fuel in the US) and we have very strict laws on emissions, insurance is also expensive so most have small engines and still cost a lot of money. One car you can get in the US and here is the Chrysler PT Cruiser. It actually costs more £'s than it does Dollars. Poor us! For Peter and Jennifer......Just been to see a Fiat Ulysse today. They have £3,500 off them at Arnold Clark just now. They have a lot of extras, even in the base model. Worth a look. We are thinking of getting that now. Which Car?
Up until recently we had a Landrover Freelander, the back seat is an
excellent size with a propper seat belt rather than a lap belt in the middle.... plenty of room!! Tanya (Notts - England) Peter Brown wrote in message ... Which Car?
We have the fiat multipla. It has three proper seats in front and back and a
huge boot which easily takes our double pushchair in the 'proper' boot. We got it as an ex-hire car from Arnold Clark and was the cheapest reasonable option for us. If you can get over the odd shape it's a brilliant car! It's well worth a test drive with and without your children. It was voted best family car for at least two years, (may be more). Helen |
