American way to raise children forms a nation of unsocial people
Replacement real friends by virtual ones, spending time in front of TV
and computer, and avoidance of preschool education, lack kids' ability for proper interaction. Elimination of the communication from early ages creates introvert and close-minded personalities. Is it a new feature of modern society? |

Interesting concepts, but from the experience of introverts in my own
family (myself being one of them), I can say I had all the "proper" social interactions at a young age, I just rejected them. I didn't watch a lot of TV, we didn't have a computer, I went to preschool until I was kicked out for being disruptive (later labeled talented and gifted; I was simply bored in preschool). I think being and introvert/extrovert is really a core part of someone's personality. It simply means, do you gain energy or "recharge" from time spent alone, or time spent with others? I don't think it's fair to label an introvert-by-nature as unsocial, especially in a negative context. Our society seems to really value extroverts--they are the popular ones, the ones who excel in most cases, because their personality allows that. Introverts are thought to be lazy, shy, umotivated, simply because they are drained from too much social interaction, too much chaos. I do think living a sheltered life full of TV, computers and video games CAN in some cases lead to a close-minded personality, mainly if the parents don't educate a child on life outside their own little world. |

When i asked that question mainly i was not thinking about the
introvert concept but rather the way of raising kids. I think that the common way to raise kids allowing them to spend all the time with computer or TV leads them to be aware of people because of the lack of communicative skills. You're so right about the introvert stereotype. However, i noticed that even extraverts are not social within thier community. For example, nobody here communicates with neighbors, and people are not willing to make new friends. May be it caused by awareness and untitrust to surrounding because either for high crime rate or because of being used to it since childhood. |

The value of real communication is not knowledge which you can get from
a person. Cause actually internet+TV gives you much more information. The reason to push your kids to have not on-line friends is to show them the way of behaving in society. When a kid grows it's not really a problem to get aquantance with same age (little bit older/younger) people. But how many of us (teenagers, adults) got a problem in finding a job, new friends, girl/boyfriends? Thousands. And the reason is - we just don't know what to say, how to act (move, talk, sometimes even way to dress). All this comes from the past. When you are for example in internet chat, you can be whatever person you want. U can say everything you are thinking of. And try to do it in reality... Eyes to eyes. Is scaring sometimes. That's why there are a lot of lonely persons. They were closed home, with mam and dad. So they are very unprotected in society. Home raised child is lonely, shy and full of complexes. It's a mistake.
