Pam Sounds like a rather crappy situation groan (ok, sorry, I couldn't resist lol) It does seem a bit extreme. But I would wait for more responses from "seasoned parents" :-) -- LES! Pam I do wonder how that can be given that if you change her every 2 hours round the clock that would be 12 diapers a day and in 7 days that would only be 84 diapers. Are you changing her every hour? Are you changing her before feeding her and then finding that she poops shortly afterward and needs to be changed again? Breastfed babies do poop more, and it is common for them to poop after every feeding which could mean up to 12 or 14 times a day. Still, it seems like you are changing her more than that. -- Dorothy There is no sound, no cry in all the world that can be heard unless someone listens .. Outer Limits |

Pam Unless you are doubling her diapers, that means you are changing her diaper at least 17 times a day; I'm sure I didn't even checked their diapers that often. Do you wake her to change her diaper? If you aren't waking her, it sounds like she's not sleeping for very long periods. (I never did; I waited until they woke up to change them.) When my twins were small, I think my service was for about 140 diapers a week -- I don't think it never got over 200 a week. I doubled (and occassionally trippled) their diapers at night. meh -- Children won't care how much you know until they know how much you care |

approx 125 cotton diapers per week!!! TOday I called to up my order to 130 and the customer service rep asked me if I have twins at home! Let's see... 125 a week... that's like 18 diapers a day. Are you including those you use for spit rags and things? Are you double diapering? Are you using any sort of cover for the diapers? My initial response would be to relax a little bit about wet diapers. Babies don't usually mind being wet, and unless she is extremely prone to rashes, you probably don't have to change her every time the diaper is a little damp. I'd change her before a feeding (to wake her up, and so you're not holding a soggy baby...). THen, unless she poops while eating (and lots of babies do), even if she wets a little while eating, you probably don't have to change her again until you feed her next. Of course you could just have a baby who is getting lots to eat and is wetting a lot... meaning that you're going through a lot of diapers! But still, if you're using diaper covers, you can probably get away with changing her a little less often than you seem to be. To use 125 diapers per week, you must be changing her every 1 1/2 hours around the clock. That seems excessive. Changing her every hour for 24/7 would mean changing her 168 times per week. I changed my children about every 2 hours when they were little and probably could have gotten away with less since they never had diaper rash. -- Dorothy There is no sound, no cry in all the world that can be heard unless someone listens .. Dear group,
she just seems to always be wet so i am always changing her-- i hate to keep her in a damp diaper, even if it is only alittle damp... she is cranky when wet. (unless she is asleep and wet). i rarely wake her to change her and she sleeps a good 6-8 hours at night (and is therefore SOAKED in the morning, sometimes through her PJs...). Most of the changing is during the day. ugh! pam |

(unless she is asleep and wet). It's your choice, but I would say it's most likely not the wetness that is causing the crankiness. She might be bored.. My kids needed changes of position and lots of stimulation when they were awake even at 3 months of age. i rarely wake her to change her and she sleeps a good 6-8 hours at night (and is therefore SOAKED in the morning, sometimes through her PJs...). Most of the changing is during the day. ugh! Not a big problem. Still you really can probably stop changing her so often during the day. When she is a bit cranky, play with her and cuddle her and offer her the breast instead perhaps? pam -- Dorothy There is no sound, no cry in all the world that can be heard unless someone listens ..
