Default frequency of breastfeeding??

Is there a source anywhere that lays out how often one should on average be
feeding? I have a 14 week old...
(I don't see anything in hte books I have, except for info on newborns...)

Well, mine nursed every two hours from about 6 weeks to about 15 months. I
do hear about babies around the age yours is nursing every 3-4 hours, though
that really amazes me.

I think that babies *should* be feeding as often as they want to. I mean how
would you like it if you were thirsty and no one would let you have a drink?
I have always feed DS on demand. This works out to be about every 2 hours
during the day and about every 3-4 hours at night. He is currently 5 months
old.

Not relevant to your question, but on a related tangent. We
were watching "Family Feud" yesterday, and one of the
questions was "How many times a day does a mother feed a
newborn baby?" (For non-USAians who aren't familiar, it's a
game show. They survey 100 random people, and contestants
have to guess the most popular answers given by those random
people.)

I yelled "12" at the TV. Turns out the most popular answer
was 6. :P
