Default groups for teens

Hi

Does anone know a usenet group really intended for teens to talk about
their problems, feelings, etc? I was told that some years ago
alt.teens used to be such a group, but today it's a pornographic group.
alt.teens.girls is even worse, all you find are messages about naked
teen girls, sex and etc. And such messages are usually posted by
adults.

I=B4d like, for instance, to talk with other teens about my relationship
with my parents.=20

Thank you=20

I am sorry to hear that alt.teens has turned into a spam dump for
porn. I used to be a decent group for older teens.

It looks like alt.support.depression.teens has gone the same way
unfortunately. That one was also a decent group a few years ago.

While they may not work you might try
alt.uk.teens.london
There was one post there asking if anyone used the group and
no porn spam.

Not many teenagers or kids access usenet.

You may want to see if there is a yahoo.group or some other
group you can access out there.

I searched and found this one for middle school teens
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/just_4_us_teens/
only 5 members though
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/talking_with_teens/
only one member atm.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/teens_...bout_anything/
4 members

This one is public
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/teens_meet/
2 members

There seem to be many different boards. Some are targeted
to specific locations, some to gay/lesbian issues (some are
obviously sex related junk too). You may want to join some
and see if you can all agree on one board to meet up at instead
of having several people in each place - you might even be
able to reclaim alt.support.depression.teens if all of you got
together though that would not necessarily be easy.

I´d like, for instance, to talk with other teens about my relationship
with my parents.

I wish I could help more with putting you in touch with other teens,
but most of my former teen contacts are now in their twenties or
older and they are not hanging out on the boards anymore.

Thank you

Good luck

Nice boy

I emailed you and if you wish to vent or talk, I am open to that.
I told you a little of my background in the email, if you want to
know more, just ask.

I think it's too bad that there are not more groups for teens, but
usenet has changed a lot and it seems many groups have just
died a natural death and that is true of most of the teen groups
that were good when I started posting.

Depending on your issues, you might still find a place and
perhaps other teens would follow. If you can think of a good
name for the group, I can certainly help you get one created
on usenet (an alt group is the easiest to do, but they are not
carried on as many ISPs news servers as big 8 groups are.
For the big 8, the problem would be establishing whether or
not the group would be used (and you would need 100 yes
votes at a minimum if there were no no votes on its creation
- that would mean getting at least 100 people who want to
use the group).

Another possibility is to look on some of the sites related to different
interests. www.neopets.com has a large number of special interest "guilds"
which are simply discussion groups, and most of them are teen-related. These
are moderated and the topics of discussion are limited, but it might give
you a place to start. I believe some of the sites related to various other
games also have discussion boards as well.
