Convincing woman to use abortion/adoption issue
Woman, mid 40s, discovers she is pregnant after seeing a man in another
state, who lives 3 hours away, only a few times and they stopped seeing each other the day after alleged conception occurred. The woman has three boys, 21, 17, and 9 from the same ex-husband. Both the man (who has no children) and woman are divorced, have professional jobs, and live in good neighborhoods. In this case, the man probably makes more than double the salary of the woman. What are some really good arguments for the man to use to convince (beg?) the woman to please use the option of abortion or adoption and not keep the baby? |

What are some really good arguments for the man to use to convince (beg?) the woman to please use the option of abortion or adoption and not keep the baby? Sorry, I cannot think of any arguments good or bad for a man to use to convince a woman to have an abortion or adopt out a child. The fact that the laws today leave that decision completely up to the woman, the only thing a man can do is to not have sex. Plain and simple. I'm not stating that the law giving the woman only the choice is right or wrong. Just the plain facts, that only the woman gets to make that choice. So, the only way for a man to be 100% sure of never having to pay child support for a one night fling, is not not have a one night fling. Men can be left with the greater financial burden and none of the choices with the consequences of a fling. So, until the law changes (which will probably not happen in our lifetimes), the only choice a man has in the matter of an unwanted or unexpected child is to say no to sex in the first place. |

I'm not stating that the law giving the woman only the choice is right or wrong. Just the plain facts, that only the woman gets to make that choice. So take your chances and make sure some form of contraceptive is bieng used. BTW, U.C.L.A. is asking for male participants for contraceptive testing right now. This should eliminate these problems in the future. Men can be left with the greater financial burden and none of the choices with the consequences of a fling. So, until the law changes (which will probably not happen in our lifetimes), the only choice a man has in the matter of an unwanted or unexpected child is to say no to sex in the first place. Too bad. I was thinking somewhere along the lines of a pre-nup like contract that left the choice to the woman but also the financial responsibility as well. This also eliminates the Koby Bryant like problems as well. HeHe. |

If he is childfree and wants to stay that way he better get to a clinic very fast for a snip. Although unprotected sex is still just a very bad thing. --------------------- Sorry, I cannot think of any arguments good or bad for a man to use to convince a woman to have an abortion or adopt out a child. The court will award child support no matter what kind of agreement the parents have. That bs 'best interests' thing. And saying that a man just has "to say no to sex" is bull. He does have to be responsible and use protection at all times, (and remember to take his pill, but abstinance is certainly not his "only choice". ~AZ~ |

And saying that a man just has "to say no to sex" is bull. He does have to
be responsible and use protection at all times, (and remember to take his pill, but abstinance is certainly not his "only choice". ~AZ~ You might not like the cold hard facts, but even with using birth control, or even if a man has been snipped (recently), there is STILL a small chance that the woman could get pregnant. Women that are on the pill get pregnant every day. Men who wear a condom end up with a pregnant partner every day. Men who get a vasectomy end up with a pregnant partner every day. THE ONLY 100% CHANCE OF NOT HAVING A CHILD IS TO NOT HAVE SEX OR CONFIRMED STERILIZATION. Therefore, until the law allows a man to choose abortion or adoption, or until the law allows a man to walk away from an unwanted pregnancy, the only way a man can be 100% sure he will never have an unwanted child (while he is still fertile), or be forced to pay child support for an unwanted child is for the man "to say no to sex". Because of the fact that birth control measures do not work 100%, and because of the fact that the man has zero choice about the birth or support of the unwanted child, then if he wants to make 100% sure he is never forced to pay child support, then his only choice is abstinence or positive sterilization. Unless he gets a vasectomy and waits the alotted amount of time and has several tests to make sure his sperm count is 0. So, his choices are 100% confirmed sterilization, or abstinence. I'm not saying all men should either be celibate or sterilized. But if they are sexually active and have not been confirmed 100% sterile, there is ALWAYS the chance of a pregnancy, of which he will have absolutely no choice of paying child support for. That is the plain and simple facts. So men have three choices on unwanted pregnancies: Abstinence Confirmed sterilization Get the laws changed to allow the man a choice for abortion/adoption or to just walk away from an unwanted pregnancy. |

THE ONLY 100% CHANCE OF NOT HAVING A CHILD IS TO NOT HAVE SEX OR CONFIRMED STERILIZATION. ---------------------------- Well, using condoms,(but not every time or not always correctly), there is about a fourteen percent failure rate. This rate goes down to two percent if condoms are always worn and always worn correctly. The male birth control pill, so far has a one hundred percent success rate. Vasectomy has a ninety-nine point ninety-five percent success rate. Once you get an all clear after the six week and the twelve week tests for semen the chances for impregnanting are one in one thousand. If I were a man I would use all three. But I agree that a man should be allowed to walk away from an unwanted pregnancy since all the other options belong only to the woman. ~AZ~ Therefore, until the law allows a man to choose abortion or adoption, or until the law allows a man to walk away from an unwanted pregnancy, the only way a man can be 100% sure he will never have an unwanted child (while he is still fertile), or be forced to pay child support for an unwanted child is for the man "to say no to sex". I'd be very careful with what you are saying, because you are 100% incorrect in stating confirmed sterilization is 100% effective. Sterilization - confirmed or not - is not 100%. It is near 100%, but there has been cases where someone has fathered, or mothered, a child after being surgically sterilized.
