41weeks and nothing happening!!
Well folks, I guess I'm looking for some moral support here. I'm at 41
weeks and I have NO signs of going into labour at all! Not a one... Baby is stll wriggling, no bloody show, no appetite change, no stool change, no extra nesting, no mucous plug, etc., etc.. If she doesn't arrive by Friday I will probably be in hospital over Christmas as the stay in is 4 or 5 days not including the birthdate. Boo hoo! Please tell me that it can come out of the blue with no signs at all. Oh and please send me your labour vibes!! Many thanks and the happiest of seasons greetings to you all! -Iseult |

The *longest* I ever stayed was 28 hours, and that was about 24 hours longer than I'd have liked!) Please tell me that it can come out of the blue with no signs at all. Oh, absolutely. In fact, it almost always *does* seem to come right out of the blue (even if it takes a long time to really get going). Oh and please send me your labour vibes!! {{{{{{Vibes}}}}} Is this your first? If so, take some comfort in realizing that you're actually not "due" until tomorrow (roughly half of all first-timers deliver on or after 41w1d). -- Be well, Barbara (Julian [6], Aurora [4], and Vernon's [a quarter to 2] mom) This week's special at the English Language Butcher Shop: "Custom fabracation" -- Auto body shop sign Daddy: You're up with the chickens this morning. I had not one single sign, even in hindsight, and just woke up in labor one morning. Oh and please send me your labour vibes!! Lots of labor vibes coming your way ~~~~~~~~~~ Good luck, Ericka |

41weeks and nothing happening!!
Okay, so I have been in your shoes....TWICE.
My second baby was due on Dec 10 and I went into spontaneous labour on Christmas Eve (I was a VBAC, and I was not going to let them induce me unless there was a sign of a problem for me or baby), so my son was born Christmas morning. My third baby was due Dec 12 and she came on Boxing Day. You hang in. I had virtually no signs of impending labour either time - baby up high, very little effacement or dilation. Things can change fast, and as long as you are healthy and baby is doing okay, just sit tight. You never know, babies have plans of their own, so any time might be IT. Also, why would you spend so much time in hospital? Go HOME. My first VBAC, I had to hang around a few days because my son had wetlung, and they needed to keep an eye on him, but with my daughter, I went home right after delivery (literally within a few hours). I was a whole lot happier and more comfortable at home. You don't have to scoot out as fast as I did, but if you are doing okay and baby is doing okay, you can go home. After all, if anything worrying happens, you can always call for advice or go back in. Much better to be home in your own bed, with family around, eating real food, and far away from all the germs in hospital (both from patients and their visitors). Mary G. |

Awww, hang in there, and I hope you're in labor as I type this. Yes, it can come out of the blue. I second the advice to feel free to leave early if you're feeling good. I had no complications and we left the birth center 6 hours after Sproutkin was born. It was so nice to spend our first night as a family tucked into our own bed at home. Thanks for all responses - I'm still here and still pregnant! To answer you all - yes, this my 1st, no I've not popped yet and still no signs. The reason I'll be in for 4 or 5 days is that the docs here kind of insist til they know there's no hermorraging or infection - I'm the type who follows doc's orders so tho' I could discharge myself early I know I won't. Hey, at least they aren't busting to induce me - not til on/after the 27th. Thanks you all again, you've given me hope she could appear any minute - but my guess now is Christmas Day! Take it easy, I am!! -Iseult |
