Default silly question about delivery

Not that it matters or anything...BUT can you leave you hospital gown on
and just pulled up during delivery and or your bra?
it seems like in all the baby shows I watch, the ladies are totally
nude.....I know when you're in that kinda of pain it should be the LAST
thing on your mind BUT I dont like that at all.....I'm really hoping you
can have something covering you upper body.

anyone else feel like this?

Sure!

I wore a sports bra and the hospital gown. I of course took all that off to
get in the tub but I always put it back on, except with the last time I got
out of the tub when laboring with Luke. I was in transition so skipped the
bra but had the gown!

Of course. I left my bra on and wore the hospital gown for all three
deliveries. I think it's kind of gross to deliver nude, but I do realize
some people do. It's just not for me. )

I wore a sports bra and a T-shirt for number one, just a t-shirt for number
two.

HUGE pain to nurse in though. I shed it right away afterwards. With #2 I
was smart enough to bring a nursing bra along.

Not a silly question at all :-) I think it just depends on the labour
and the woman. There's no reason at all that you can't wear
something, as far as I know.

I had taken some old t-shirts with me to the hospital to wear but
ended up just wearing the gown they gave me for the first little bit
of labour (I wasn't really thinking clearly with all the excitement
and just put it on when the midwife handed it to me). Shortly after
that, though, I decided to use the shower and bathtub to help with the
contractions (which REALLY helped by the way!!!!- highly recommend it
if you can) and just stayed naked after that. By that point I was so
completely in the throes of contractions that I couldn't care less
what I was wearing and I think that anything on my upper body would
have been really annoying anyway.

FWIW, I was so consumed by the labour that any trace of vanity I may
have had was GONE gone gone...LOL. I was using the toilet in front of
the midwife, nurse and DH without even thinking about it twice. Also,
I ended up pooping a bit during pushing (sorry, probably waaayyy too
much info - but it's very common during the pushing stage) and barely
even noticed.

I wore a long t-shirt nightgown that I bought specifically to labor in.
I wore it throughout labor and until after DS was born and on my chest.
It got bloody and messy and I changed into a black t-shirt that I could
pull up to nurse him. I agree with other posters that you totally lose
modesty--I didn't care who was looking at what! I kept feeling that way
for several days after the birth--i.e. I didn't care if my mom was in
the room while I was in the bathtub. I did feel more comfortable wearing
something though.

Sure you can wear clothing, but you may well be
surprised what you feel like doing in labor. I am normally
*quite* modest, but couldn't abide clothing towards the
end of my first labor. The other two, I was fine with
clothing.

Best wishes,
Ericka
