Ouch! Are squirrels rabies carriers in your area? I'd
worry about that more than about tetanus. I can't find
tetanus in Hale's, but both DT and DTP are listed. "Tetanus
toxoid contains large molecular weight protein toxoids. It
is extremely unlikely proteins of this size would be
secreted in breastmilk. [...] The CDC states that all
vaccines are safe for breastfeeding mothers."

I had to look it up for a friend a few years ago, and at least at
the time the statistics said that rabies is really unlikely in
squirrels. Rodents in general aren't a high-risk group, and of
the rodents, by far the most rabies turns up in groundhogs.
Nothing is impossible, of course, but from what I read squirrel
bites weren't considered a huge rabies risk.

I will talk to dr today regarding health risks, but I am not too fearful of
Rabies. From what I know, Rabies make an animal sick, and they can attack.
This squirrel was just trying to get a cheerio off my finger (as he did my
hubands with no problem), and wasn't trying to hurt me.

For some reason, the post from Phoebe & Allyson doesn't show up on my
computer, I just saw it when you replied.

Thanks to both for the information..
