Default May due dates

(With many thanks to Mary S., original author!)

Welcome and congratulations, if you're just found out! Do you feel
pregnant yet, or is it still new and stunning? Have you started telling
people? Started to look around at the hospitals and birth centers near
you, taking prenatals? Any food cravings, any morning queasiness?
Peeing a million times a day? How's pregnancy treating you so far? I
hope the next nine months are happy, healthy, and fun!

All the best,

Sarah

I'll be 12 weeks on Wednesday and I still don't believe it! Started telling
people quite early, around 7-8 weeks because I was having problems with
nausea and dizziness at work (I'm a teacher) and I needed to get someone to
cover for me on a couple of occasions. Once i'd told one person, I decided
the world might as well know.

Cravings so far have included grapefruit juice, bananas and grapes though
they all seem to have passed now. I'm only really sick now on the mornings
I get up early and haven't had enough sleep. I haven't puked once this time
though (only did so twice the last time). My appetite is gone to pot
though, I've lost about 10 pounds in the last 8 weeks. I've been taking my
folic acid - all the prenatals here say not to take before 13 weeks because
of the iron content. I'm not peeing any more during the day but the 4am
rest-stop is back :-(.

I haven't had a proper ante-natal appt yet, though I did meet with a midwife
to discuss the possibility of a homebirth. I've decided against it this
time because I'm going for a VBAC and had a significant PPH despite two lots
of syntocin/syntometrine the last time. However, I'm changing hospital and
will be using the public clinic which is midwifery based rather than going
the private ob route again.

And since the next 9 months include the first 3 post-partum, I certainly
hope that there's some happiness and fun involved. My worst nightmare is a
repeat of DD's first 3 months!

I definitely feel pregnant. I'm bloated, my breasts are larger, I've been
throwing up every day.

We told people as soon as we found out. I'm bad at keeping secrets. Taking
prenatal vitamins. We just got married so we have to figure out his
insurance stuff before we figure out the hospital/birth center situation.

All day queasiness. Not many food cravings. Occasionally chicken.

Peeing a million times a day? How's pregnancy treating you so far? I

Not peeing that much more than usual. Pregnancy is okay. I'm a little
uncomfortable. I was a stomach sleeper before and with the bloating, it just
isn't comfortable now. Trying to find new ways to sleep. I also don't much
like the throwing up part. Hopefully that passes soonish.

I like these Due Date Lists. Thanks.

All the best,

Sarah

Do you feel pregnant yet, or is it still new and stunning?

Well, this is our second, so I recognize what certain sensations are (mild
uterine contractions...) and I sort of know what my body is doing!

Have you started telling
people?

Everyone knows... My first cousin just told me that she's expecting exactly two
weeks after me! How cool is that?

Started to look around at the hospitals and birth centers near you

We'll be delivering at the same hospital as last time.. no suprises...

taking prenatals?

NO!! =-(( I can't keep them down - I e ven tried the premisis ones with the
B complex that's intended to help with morning sickness. The nausea is JUST
NOW starting to let up... I'm adventuring out into the world of food beyond
saltines, pretzels and applesauce! Woo Hoo!!

Any food cravings

Yes, a ton (pizza, eggrolls, crab rangoons are just heavenly to think about,
but the thought of actually having to SMELL it sitting there in front of me
makes me run to the toilet...

Peeing a million times a day?

A definite YES!!

How's pregnancy treating you so far?

To use an old saying of my DH's, "Like a baby treats a diaper"

I do feel pregnant - in that my boobs are larger and sore, and very
sensitive, and I feel sick ALL THE TIME. I have vomited about 7 times
only, but it's the constant nausea that is getting me down. It's just
starting to ease now. I am almost 11 weeks (on wed). I do feel
bloated, too. I lost 4kg in the first week of morning sickness until I
worked out that eating actually helps stop some of the nausea, and I've
managed to gain 1.5kg back. I am quite tired most of the time, too.

Have you started telling
people?

I couldn't not - I have a slightly green hue about me, and being a
Midwife, it is good for my collegues to know that I'm pregnant, so I can
get out of looking after the spewy patients I need to eat
constantly, so going to lunch at 11am doesn't look so abnormal. Also,
people know I am very clucky, so I couldn't keep it a secret.

Started to look around at the hospitals and birth centers near
you, taking prenatals?

I have applied to be part of the Community Midwifery Program here in
Perth for a home waterbirth. I will probably book in with my workplace
hospital as backup. I find out this week if my application is
accepted... there are only 150 funded places per year on the program.

Any food cravings, any morning queasiness?

Food cravings, well, twisties mostly... and icy cold milk. Queasiness
is an understatement. I feel damn sick most of the time! Luckily it's
easing off. As soon as I feel at all hungry, I need to eat, or I start
gagging. The sigt of my regular tooth brush is enough to induce
vomiting, too. I have to clean my teeth with the electric toothbrush.
The mouth rinsing isn't pleasant, and I really don't enjoy a nice hot
shower anymore

Peeing a million times a day?

It's not so much in the day time that I need to pee - at night I'm up
every 2 hours or so.

How's pregnancy treating you so far? I
hope the next nine months are happy, healthy, and fun!

Overall, I guess I'm being treated ok by pregnancy over all. The severe
nausea over weeks 6 - 9 were quite depressing, but I can see the light
now. I'm just hoping it does stop at the magical 12 week mark. I
didn't think I'd last this long without jumping off a tall building

All the best,

Sarah

Thanks Sarah, and all the best to the other May due date baby bellies

Just piggy packing my own post:

I forgot to answer the prenatals question... I started to as soon as I
found out... I added the Vit B6 and Ginger tablets due to nausea. I
actually felt better the days I forgot to take them, so I've been taking
nothing except my folic acid. Might try the multivitamins again when I
stop feeling sick

One tip I was given in my antenatal classes - try putting a couple of
pillows under your hips when you're lying on your stomach, so that the
pressure is taken off your midriff. Haven't tried it myself (I'm not a
stomach sleeper, so no real need to) but you might find it worth a try.

I like these Due Date Lists. Thanks.

You're welcome! It's really Mary S. who gets the credit, since she
originally wrote them.

We have known since the earliest possible moment and have even had an
ultrasound but its still doesn't feel real. Probaby because I'm busy chasing
my 2 boys around

Have you started telling people?

I can't keep a secret either, so we have been telling for a while now.

Any food cravings, any morning queasiness?

No particular cravings, they come day by day.

So far things are going well, but I want it to feel real. I'm ready to feel
little kicks and see my belly

What I did...

first, I bought a mattress tht you can sleep on your belly full term
on.
didn't like it...hurt my back as it let my back arch too much.

what finally worked for me was this..

Pick a side to lay on (lets say the left side)
Put a pillow under your arm (under your ribs) so that you're laying on
a pillow with your ribs.
put another pillow under your head like you normally would
put a third fluffy pilly (or two flatter pillows...need some height
for this one) in front of your hips/legs area. Lean your body over
the pillows by your hips, tossing your leg over the pillows.

You can basically get on your stomach - or close to it...you're
side-lying, but leaning over to your stomach with your upper body
mostly chest-laying. your body is bent a little bit..but I found this
comfortable all the way through my last pregnant and didn't lose a day
of sleep. (the previous pregnancy I hadn't figured this out and was
up 5-6 times a night with painful hips and all sorts of problems)

I'll have to give this a try. Thank you.
